Overall: LOVE these professors, but BEWARE of the AoLs, and GO TO ALL THE CLC SESSIONS POSSIBLE.
Professor and Maloy and Braybrook taught this class, and I LOVED THEM. They are the best professors I have ever had. However, the assessments of learning (AoLs) related to class material, but only taking notes on class lectures and going to class was NOT enough to pass these AoLs. These tests threw in unrelated topics and subjects that were never discussed in class. The CLC Sessions help you be prepared for these AoLs but if you can, obtained previous classes' AoLs and study them completely. Anyways, Good Luck!
Maloy was great! Definitely take this class if you could, his lectures are decently engaging.
Take LS7A with Maloy!!! He is the best professor, classes are always engaging and never boring. Launchpad is a bit tedious but after the first midterm you'll figure out how to pick out what is actually important to know for tests. Tests were all online on CCLE and had individual and group phases so you had a chance to take the test twice to improve your score. I loved this class and would take it with Maloy again in a heartbeat.
Tests were pretty difficult, it's all application of the knowledge you learn. Pay attention to discussions and clickers! That's what the tests are like. None of that memorization nonsense. Anyway, Maloy was always understanding (I literally forgot to turn in my group final and he still let me. I would've gotten a C in the class but I got an A. He is,,,,so kind) and would always bring his dog to sit at the front of the room (WHAT A SWEETIE. SO FLUFFY AND CALM AND SOFT) and you could pet him!!! Take this class with Maloy!!
Professor Maloy is great! For winter 2022, he made LS7A a course such that as long as you pass, you get an A. I can't see how anyone could have failed that class (basically, how anyone could've NOT gotten an A-- literally all you had to do was pass). Launchpad (used for all the LS7 series) is EXTREMELY boring and ridiculous and was my least favorite part. I personally hated how the course followed a flipped classroom structure, but Maloy himself is a good professor and is extremely fun to be around. I'm selling all my notes (in-class and reading notes) for $15! Hmu at ********** if interested
I'm so glad that my first quarter at UCLA included 7A with Dr. Maloy. He is an incredible, engaging professor that genuinely cares about his students and his studies. He asked us to do a mid-quarter course evaluation so he could implement any suggestions for the latter half of the quarter, unlike how it usually is where we can only grade our professors once the quarter is over. His enthusiasm made the 8 AM lecture feel like a breeze and he was always so encouraging. I thought the midterms and finals were super fair -- like the whole 7 series, it's all about application over memorization.

The whole breakdown:
TOTAL - 716 pts
MIDTERM 1 - 90 pts
MIDTERM 2 - 110 pts
FINAL - 200 pts
DISCUSSION SECTION - 80 pts (10 pts per week)
iCLICKER Qs - 76 pts (4 pts, all-or-nothing, per lecture)
LAUNCHPAD (assignments, quizzes, practice exams) - 150 pts

There were also multiple opportunities for extra credit!
I wish Maloy was teaching 7A every quarter - he is truly an all-star professor.
