Class is super easy and manageable; show up to class, do your clicker questions, and learn the slides and you're good to go. Professor Danan is still new to the teaching game, so the class format is always changing, but she tries her best. Questions raised in class, though they may stump her, will always be detailed in their responses on CCLE. The class doesn't have a section, but there are lots of TAs that are free to answer questions.
You need to go to class because she does clickers. Overall I thought some parts were super cool and others were boring. She was a pretty engaging lecturer though and definitely tried to engage with kids.
Tests: Very easy to cram for but a lot of material. GO OVER EVERYTHING ON THE SLIDES EVEN THE LOWER FONT SEEMINGLY UNIMPORTANT EXAMPLE OF A DRUG. Literally anything on the slides can be tested on. Its all multiple choice and they're pretty much the same difficulty as the weekly quizzes.
Quizzes: A lot of the answers are on quizlets but not all of them so test your luck.
Guinea Pigs: You need 6 SONA credits to pass the class (you can get an A but not pass if you don't get 6 credits). You get them by participating in studies that the psychology department has. For example, for one credit I sat in a room, played tetris, memorized words, said those words, and played more tetris. One of them I stood for 2 hours while they titled my left and right and asked me if I was "leaning more left or more right". Worst experience ever lol.
Lab: You design a study, pretty easy if your groupmates aren't lazy.
Overall, its a nice class if you just want to pad your GPA or schedule. But don't underestimate this class as just another easy "I took AP Psych I'll do amazing" class. Yes the material is easy to understand, but THERE IS A LOT OF IT.
Dr. Danan is great and this class is very easy. This is basically memorization. If you're a STEM major, do not hesitate to make this your fourth class with three sciences or take it your first quarter at UCLA. Groups are formed on the first Lab day of class and the group stuff is super easy. Lectures are engaging and I enjoyed going. I guess you can skip but make sure to make up what you missed, the material can add up quickly. Most people do well. The midterm and final are multiple choice and can be finished in an hour. Easy class!
Danan is fantastic. Her lectures were very straightforward and often funny as she had students come up for physical demonstrations of certain concepts (e.g. having a bunch of students stand in a line to demonstrate how a neuron sends signals). Go to lectures, take good notes, and you will absolutely be fine on the tests (which are multiple choice). You are also required to attend a few experiments for the Psych department, but it won't take very long at all. Would definitely recommend.
