Very very boring lectures his voice is soothing puts you to sleep but I liked how he had powerpoint slides unlike Smallberg. Specs were super unclear though this man can't write proper english so expect to ask him a lot of questions about what he actually wants. Midterms and finals were pretty straightforward final was actually mostly mc conceptual stuff less code tracing than most people expected so don't spend too much time prepping for it if your project and midterm scores are high.
Lectures are boring. If you miss out something he mentioned in lecture, he will suspect you never go to lecture. All lecture notes will be posted. Sometimes notes are not very clear. Projects are easy but the specs are unclear.
He was the least helpful person ever.
SUPER CONDESCENDING. Makes you feel stupid for asking questions. i never felt like I could go to his office hours without being judged by him for not knowing everything already.
Before our final, he said 'I don't like it when people don't know how to write code. It's so annoying when you write code that doesn't compile. AS IF I WANNA WRITE BAD CODE?!?!?!'
But I had a wonderful TA who helped me out a lot. Her name was Gayathri and she was the best.
I hate howard
This man is so fucking boring. Wanted to be a CS major, took this course, changed my mind lol. By far the hardest class to stay awake in I've ever taken, I look around the lecture hall and a solid 1/3 of students I saw were sleeping and another 1/3 were playing around on their laptops. Terrible professor!
Prof. Stahl's lectures are super clear and broken down so that even if you are new to computer science, you will still be able to do very well. The lectures are well-organized and he always uploads the slides to CCLE, which was very helpful. As long as you are careful with projects and follow the specifications, you will be fine. It's hard NOT to do well as long as you go to the lectures and pay attention 70% of the time.
The class is easy. he is good with homework. However, that means everyone can get extremely high scores for every project. If you did around average in the exams, probably you will end up with B or B- since there is a curve for the class. I think that is not his fault since CS31 is all curved... He uses the microphone but students in the back can hardly hear his voice..... But his notes is clear and he will talk about homework about 30 mins in the class, which helps a lot for you to understand you project,
