I think Hatice is a good instructor and a great person!
Pros: The weekly homework was very light and the exam difficulty was easy/medium (usually a bit long, but each problem was doable, and cheat sheets were allowed). I'd recommend looking up 132 midterms online and using those for practice while studying. Hatice is also very accommodating and flexible with homework deadlines/working with students.
Cons: The depth of knowledge I got from this class was very surface-level. If you're a math enthusiast who wants to rigorously learn complex analysis (in the same way that 131A is taught), you won't get that from this instructor. Additionally, she is not the best lecturer (though I've definitely had worse). Her lectures are straight from the textbook and offer little insight into the material beyond what's in the book.
Overall, I think Hatice's class is very doable, and I liked her enough to take a second class with her. I would definitely keep her as an option, but if there are any other professors who have strong reviews, I would recommend choosing them over Mutlu Akaturk, as you'll likely walk away with a stronger foundation in complex analysis.
No clue how she is rated 4.0. She should be sub 2.5. She couldnt teach well and ended up confusing students. She didnt know how to answer student questions and always delayed the answers to TAs or office hours.
She cannot teach at all. The TA and the book do all the work. I got above average for both the midterm and final, but ended with a B-. She didnt curve anything. Check her grade distributions at https://grades.natecation.xyz. Most people ended with a B, B-, C and Ds.
Overall, the professor was nice even though she is not the best at lecturing. She goes off the textbook and if you don't have the solution manual to it, HW will be extremely difficult for you. The TA, on the other hand, was useful in terms of doing the HW problems, but also extremely harsh and picky with grading. However, the professor gave us a chance for HW resubmissions to get half the points we lost back (which was very helpful by the way). She gives midterm and final review problems that correspond to her fair tests. In fact, a good 1/3 of our final was exactly the same as the final review. She also curved our class, or lowered the grade cutoffs by at least 5%. BTW there was only one midterm and only one grading scheme, meaning that you can't drop your midterm even if you bombed it. I thought this class was alright though.
