Spring 2023 - I took 31A with her. It was horrible. Majority of the class failed the final exam. She goes through content super fast and does not accommodate well for students who are new to the subject. Expects students to know a lot of things coming into the class. Worst class I have taken at UCLA so far.

Spring 2022 - I think Hatice is a good instructor and a great person! Pros: The weekly homework was very light and the exam difficulty was easy/medium (usually a bit long, but each problem was doable, and cheat sheets were allowed). I'd recommend looking up 132 midterms online and using those for practice while studying. Hatice is also very accommodating and flexible with homework deadlines/working with students. Cons: The depth of knowledge I got from this class was very surface-level. If you're a math enthusiast who wants to rigorously learn complex analysis (in the same way that 131A is taught), you won't get that from this instructor. Additionally, she is not the best lecturer (though I've definitely had worse). Her lectures are straight from the textbook and offer little insight into the material beyond what's in the book. Overall, I think Hatice's class is very doable, and I liked her enough to take a second class with her. I would definitely keep her as an option, but if there are any other professors who have strong reviews, I would recommend choosing them over Mutlu Akaturk, as you'll likely walk away with a stronger foundation in complex analysis.

Winter 2022 - It's very hard to teach a abstract class. it would be hard for those who demaning intuition. but overall, she manage to explain the text well and she cares for her students a lot. the work load is relativce small comparing to other classes which is a point can be improved
