Dr. Barrett is wonderful. This class is simple, straight forward, and doesn't complicate anything too much, goes over concepts patiently, loves answering student questions, and thinks a lot about the way he phrases things and puts thought into his word choice during lecture. His expectations of you are very reasonable, your grade is based on just a midterm and a final but he curves nicely and doesn't make the exams too difficult or tricky. Since the lectures are videocasted most students don't even show up to the lecture at all which I think is shit because he puts effort into them and if you just show up and pay attention and take some notes the material just sinks in since it's nothing too difficult to grasp and you can just review concepts and some terminology before the exams and do well. I'd definitely take another class with him if I had the chance, he made this a nice, light, and not-too-demanding or draining lecture while also keeping it interesting and thought-provoking.
Easy A class especially if you have taken classes about evolution. There is no homework at all, and you don't even have to attend lectures since they are podcasted. Prof Barrett is really chill and a good lecturer. The course reader is pricy but fortunately the assigned readings are not really necessary for exam preparation. Simply understand the slides and you are good to go.
