Professor
Hank Schlinger
Most Helpful Review
Professor Schlinger is a real cool cat. He's knowledgable and a free thinker. His abilities are clearly somewhat impeded by the nature of big lectures at research universities; you get the feeling that you could learn a hell of a lot from him in a more intimate class environment. Nonetheless, he has fire in lectures; I am of the opinion that he tends more to indoctrinate than to try to be 'objective', but as long as you know that, you'll be okay. Jeez, that's what it means to be a college student, discriminating between points of view. What a ridiculous statement for me to make. It's not as easy an A as some might say. I read each chapter a couple times in order to ensure that I would succeed on each quiz. You can get an A in his class, sure. But for goodness' sake, that is not the point. I think what Schlinger's done is take the focus away from students' neurotic obsession with grades and hopefully direct it towards learning. I learned a LOT in his class. Bottom line: cool guy, thought-provoking lectures, NOT an A dropped into your lap, but that's not the point of education anyway.
