I often got lost in the lectures and found them very hard to follow. He posts his notes but I found those confusing as well (and so have other people in the class).
I feel like he didn't give us enough homework and he ended up testing us on things that we've never even practiced. Since his lectures were confusing and we barely got any homework I wasn't really sure what to study for the final.
*He only gave us three homeworks for the entire quarter (each consisting of 5-6 questions).
He's a very nice guy and will try to help you if you ask but I just felt like we didn't get enough practice so I was lost for most of the quarter.
take him!!!
class was easy because jeong is covers the material slowly. the homeworks were pretty difficult but he gave out answers / tips during his OH so take advantage of that. his exams are really similar to the practice exams, if you know how to do those then you'll be fine!
as a stats major i was worried about taking a math upper div but i didn't need to worry at all. i wanted to take him for 170s but it was full :(
The professor goes over content really slowly, he only covered about 3/4 of the topics on the syllabus although I hear thats common for 170e. The hws can also be really hard and confusing so get an early start on them. The tests however aren't so bad since they are content taken directly from the hws and the practice tests so as long as you review the answers you should be fine. My main annoyance in this class is that he doesn't even tell you what score you got on the final. Which I would like to know so that I could tell if he curves down or I just did badly on my final.
The grading scheme is the max of:
A)
15% hw
20% each midterm (2)
45% final
B)
15% hw
15% each midterm (2)
55% final
