Dr. Rosenthal was very easy. I'd say easier than Waung. He's also very concerned about student learning. He always had extra extra extra office hours for midterms and the final. He worked very hard to be there for the students... He is also very gifted because he is so patient! there were some people who'd come to OH's and they were soooo annoying, but he was so patient. One negative thing about him was that he wasn't the best lecturer. He'd just read off his notes sometimes and it was easy to get lost during lecture. But, he was better than some physics professors that I'd taken before. He would do a lot ,the practice test, and the quizzes mainly and you should be well covered. good luck!

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST PROFESSOR at UCLA! I have never met another Professor that showed so much concern and dedication to students. He is extremely organized: posts all lecture notes and grades on website, answers discussion board questions several times a day and is extemely thorough through email. He encourages students to attend office hours and is the most humble, jolly and patient professor ever.

He is direct in his teachings and concentrates on teaching the PHYSICS rather than too much emphasis on the Math. Shows demos every single day of class and personally holds all review sessions. He relates Physics to practical and everyday situations and expands upon almost every single concept in the text. He puts so much time into helping students learn.

Thank you Dr Rosenthal! I walk away from the class having learned something of real value and having taken UCLA's BEST Professor.

Professor Rosenthal is the best. He is extremely intelligent, but very humble. He is always available to help you in office hours, and he cares about the students. If he is available for a class definitely take him.

I love professor Rosenthal! I have never met a professor so patient with his students and so direct in his teachings. Totally recommend!

Prof. Rosenthal is one of the best professors I've ever had in my whole three years at UCLA. He has more than enough office hours to accomodate even the busiest person. On top of that, he is very very good at VOH. It's as if he takes his computer with him wherever he goes. You can submit a question on the discussion board and within 10 minutes he has a response for it. For one of my midterms, I had posted up question after question throughout the day before the midterm up until 2am and professor rosenthal answered every single one up until 2am! He has office hours every single day for 10th week and finals week. He has two midterms and a cumulative final. He grades on a curve. He has homework assignments due every week. He has easy online quizzes which you can take as many times as you can until you get all of the problems correct. His website is very helpful and he updates the grades for your HW, quizzes, and exams frequently. His lectures are excellently organized and well presented. He does demonstrations at almost every lecture which correlates well with the topic that he is covering. He also uses a lot of the audience's participation when doing his demos. The best seats in the house are in the front left half of the lecture room (i.e. if your lecture is in Kinsey 51). I can go on and on about his abilities and qualities, but I think you guys get the picture. Two thumbs and two toes up for Professor Rosenthal!

Simple words! you will love physics after you take any of his classes!

I truly believe he was the nicest professor I have ever had at UCLA. He was really helpful in his office hours, considering that hw problems were not easy, at least for me. His tests reflected the practice exams, so the class was really not too hard. He made it very interesting with his demos. Take him for Physics, at least you'll be interested to come to class and if you try, you can get your A

If you email him at like 2am at night, you will probably still be able to get back a reply in like 10 minutes. In fact, some of us wonder if he ever does anything else outside his teaching and research works. His web site is updated very often, and notes, previous exams, quiz and test scores are all posted. The material in Physics 6C is extremely boring to me (worse than 6A or 6B) but I did he did a decent job lecturing, although his voice tone is pretty monotonous most of the time. As for his tests, they tend to be much longer than the ones I had from Waung and Rudnick. There are still 4 questions in the midterm and 8 for final, but there are so many parts to the question (say, part a through h) that it takes a lot more time to finish. Time seems to be a big issue in the test for most people.

I hated physics before this class, and even though it's still not my favorite subject, Rosenthal definitely made it more bearable. He's a genuine professor who is very patient, concerned about student learning, and laid back. His tests aren't bad because he gives you practice exams which reflect the actual types of midterm and final problems you'll have. He's an overall nice guy. He puts post-its over your test scores when you get them back in class because only "you're the only one who needs to know your score." How nice is that?
