Professor
Gerardo Luzuriaga
Most Helpful Review
I think Luzuriaga is a very good professor. If you attend on a regular basis you should have no problem knowing what will be in the exam or quizzes (he practically tells you what to focus on). He also gives you a sheet of possible questions for the exams. If you are a Spanish mayor you must write your exam, quizzes and papers in Spanish, otherwise you have the option of writing in Spanish or English. I am not a Spanish mayor or minor, and I wrote in Spanish (even it was not required of me, I was looking to improve my composition skills) in his exams and paper and I did perfectly well. I got an A- in this course. I attend his office hours even before everyone rushed in the last week and he was of great helped. He went more into detail of what my misunderstandings were. The only problem with Luzuriaga is that he is no opened a different interpretation of the poems we might read. I took him for Spanish 140 \361 Modernismo. This class was all about poetry at the end of the 19th century. Since then there has been much research about the poets and their poems, leaving little opportunity for interpretation now a days. Luzuriga might recognize good interpretations by part of the students, but if it\355s not what he believes to be true about the poet or poem, he will correct your interpretation. That\355s the only thing I didn\355t like about his teaching.
