winter 2015.
Professor Schaeffer is probably the best professor I have seen so far. He is passionate, knowledgeable, eloquent. He really understands what problems students may have. Besides, his grading was really generous. Though the class was not curved, but the exams were fairly distributed among all the concepts, and there was no questions that were extremely difficult as long as you read the powerpoints and do some exercised. Many questions were awarded with partial credits.
The only thing I have to complain is the homework. The homework assignment was incredibly long and contained multiple parts with proffs - from part a) to part i) maybe. None of them was straightforward, and I struggled for hours.
Overall I would recommend to take him.
Schaeffer is great. Clear explanations, sense of humor, fair grading. He gives you lots of study material for exams (practice exams, list of expectations, practice questions). Above all, he just makes you feel like all the material is completely doable. I'm really glad he's at UCLA.
By the way, had Will Rosenbaum as a TA. He was great, too.
