I would not recommend this class to be taken with this professor. She is kind, but she makes it evident as to her favorites are, especially because her class is so small. I didn't form a bond with anyone, and no one else did either because of how awkward the class was set. I feel like she graded based on who she liked the most and her grading was, in my opinion, unfair. Some people would have essays with extremely weak substances and would get an A and others who were extremely eloquent would receive Cs. I would not go to office hours because I felt her efforts to help out were very weak and consisted of putting down your work and would only emphasize the grammatical errors she would already have down. I felt like the grading was highly based on whether she like what you wrote and if you were on her good side. I liked the class at first, but realized that after a while, she gets too comfortable and puts you on the spot in front of the whole class if you made a minimal mistake and would do the same thing when it came to when we did silent work and would "whisper" (loud-whisper) your errors, and these errors were errors that you already knew because they were on your corrections and if she liked you, she would leave you alone. I feel like this class dumbed me down; I am a fluent speaker and writer of spanish (my first language) but I feel that this class is placed in a way that the professor makes you feel like you are not that smart and to make you feel that if you thought you knew a lot, well in her eyes, you really don't. This class is unfortunate that there is only one professor and it is mandatory to take if you are a spanish major/ minor, so I would not recommend as a GE.

I needed to take this class as a Spanish requisite and felt personally uncomfortable in her class. The professor argued that the reason why the females did not participate in the class was because the males would speak and went ahead and did an experiment where she made all the male students not speak during the whole class. Who does that? At the end female participation did not increase and said that the male students had to leave the class. She gave all the male students B's while giving all the female students A. Would not recommend taking her because of how she made me and my classmates feel.

This class was extremely easy. I am fluent in Spanish and found that this class really helped my writing. Take this class, it helps a lot! There is one textbook required as far as I know, it is "Bleichmar, Guillermo, Taller de escritores, 2nd Edition (Textbook and Supersite Access)." The class is really small and requires your participation. It is composed of 4 small quizzes, all extremely easy (accent, subjunctive, etc.) Two essays (2 pages), descriptive & argumentative. Also a final presentation (5 minutes) that goes along with your final essay (4-6 pages).

The class was okay for the reason that it's a small class. I didn't like the grading because I would get points deducted for every little thing. The professor is nice but isn't really helpful in some aspects of the course. I am fluent speaker and writer in Spanish so i felt like the class challenged my knowledge in Spanish in an unnecessary way that didn't flow with the class. It isn't an easy class but it's not the toughest.

This class is amazing. You get to create a strong relationship with your classmates and professor. The professor is sweet and nice. The lectures are dinamic and interesting. I recommend you to take the class!
