He's an alright professor. Bruincast is a lifesaver not to watch the lectures for the first time, but to reinforce the material. You do not have to go to lecture but, for me, it seemed better when I was there and then refreshing with bruincast than double dipping on bruincast. He's a nice guy, but sometime he does not understand what is fair to put on his exams. The average on the first midterm was mid 60's, I believe, which is alright, but he thought it was too high. The next exam, the average was in the high 30's, with 2 kids getting 80+%. He's a nice guy, but be able to use your imagination with problems. Everything is technically "fair game" but some exam problems simply kill your spirit for physics. overall, nice guy, very difficult exam maker, okay professor. Not impossible at all to pass, with a generous curve (if you are on the curve, you receive a solid B), but it's in such a way that makes getting an A pretty difficult. Not a horrible professor, just okay

Professor Williams is a difficult professor that likes to challenge his students. If this bothers you do not take him at all. He is mostly organized in his lectures, knows the material inside out, but sometimes makes mistakes in writing lectures, but he is human. Taking him will help you learn the material, but without working hard or studying a good deal for the exams you may not get the grade you would like.

He is usually good with passing many people and has a relatively fair curve but it does not seem so if your'e on the down side of the curve. Not the best professor to take with poor studying skills or for those with no previous physics backgrounds from high school or wherever. One of the harder physics professors.

Prof. Williams is a very good lecturer. Clear and concise, you can tell he definitely knows his stuff. His midterms were pretty fair but his final was killer. I wouldnt worry too much about his tests (they're not that bad) and there is a very generous curve so half the class gets at least a B anyway. I'd recommend Williams for 6A over Huang, doable A.

ABOUT THE PROFESSOR:
Williams is one of those "He's not a bad person, but just goes insane when he writes his tests" In class, he's a little clumsy but speaks clearly and gets the point across. Unfortunately a little slow paced and rushes to finish lecture. But you'll survive. No accents. Thank God.

HIS TEST:
EXTREMELY HARD.
He takes the two of the hardest problems in the homework/practice midterms and combines them into a MEGA difficultly problem. The averages when I took the course were 67%, 57% for the midterms and 58% on the final.
HOW TO DO WELL: PARTIAL CREDIT PARTIAL CREDIT PARTIAL CREDIT. I never got 100% on a single problem all partial credit and still ended up with a B. If you have absolutely no idea, just write down equations. DON'T GET STUCK ON ONE PROBLEM. Have to go to the next one and come back you're never going to answer his problems in one go.

THE CLASS:
Easy concepts. You won't have trouble understanding the concepts, but problem solving for this guy's tests is your biggest challenge.

RESOURCES:
TA Office hours, Hector Garcia is the best go-to TA even if he isn't your actual TA. This guy answers your questions in detail and gives you good input on what the important concepts are/aren't for the tests

THINGS I WOULD'VE DONE DIFFERENTLY:
Hopefully tried to get some more sleep before test (9-12 hours, 8 hrs is bare minimum won't do sh**). practice drawing Free Body Diagrams

Williams is like a kindly old grandfather. I have only ever personally spoken to him once, and he seemed really polite and willing to help.
Unfortunately, his test-making is not so kindly and grandfatherly. His tests make it seem like he wants you to fail. I did all of the textbook problems for the first midterm, and did below average. Definitely do his practice tests.
I managed to track down old exams, and fortunately Williams recycled a problem, which saved my grade. I got a curved A on the second midterm.
Then I got cocky and didn't study for the final and came out with a B. Don't be like me, keep up the studying, don't get lulled into a false sense of security. Be extra vigilant, he's a sneaky one.

This guy is a total boss. Great professor, knows his stuff, and knows how to get it across -- a concept that seems to be lost among many of the physics professors in the department. His tests are extremely fair, and his curve is beyond generous. I found that it was most useful to study the homework problems in preparation for his exams. The first two midterms were very straightforward, with no "curveballs", but instead a basic grasp of the concepts taught, and the ability to combine multiple concepts in a single problem (sounds a lot harder than it actually is). His final was rather difficult, but he curved it a lot. I am by no means a physics whiz, and I ended up with a solid A in the class. I would strongly recommend Professor Williams to any incoming physics students. He's a great transition into the physics department, which probably wouldn't have such a bad rep. if more of its professors were like Williams. Take him if you can, you won't regret it!

Williams is like a kind grandfather. He really cares about students and postponed homework assignments nearly every week to accommodate students. His tests are fair but tricky. Study the homework, but know that the exams problems are only similar to homework problems and usually have some curveball added element to the scenario.
