Professor Greenberg was an extremely insightful and interesting professor. His lectures were always engaging and he did his best to make sure that the class understood the concepts he presented and that we were paying attention. Although his grading was rather hard on the papers, it was fair and gave us plenty of commentary on what we should improve on. I would definitely take another philosophy class with him.
In the beginning of this class, Gabriel informed us that this class would "not be an easy A." By that, he meant it is almost impossible to get an A. Although he does an overall good job of explaining the difficult material, he expects you to basically make this class your entire life. I completed every reading, every quiz, went to every lecture, yet still somehow was unable to get an A on any of the essays that I slaved away on for days. Also, I find him incredibly irritating and arrogant. If you get Esther Nibkin for your T.A., switch out immediately. She may seem chill and easy going, but she will rip apart your essays with unjustified reasoning. Unless you are willing to devote hours upon hours to this class, I strongly suggest not taking it unless you are a Philosophy major.
I really loved taking this class. there were 4 essays; one was three paragraphs long, another was two pages long, and the last two were 3-4 pages long. The readings for the class are all posted on CCLE and they are interesting but long. I strongly recommend this class. It was super interesting.
