Prof. Greenberg is a nice guy who was very accommodating during the pandemic. There were 6 homework assignments that mostly consisted of building different "circuits" and an extra credit paper one could write for up to 10% of your grade. You are able to work with a small group on the homework assignments which is cool because if you have a good group, you'll have a good support network for asking questions and getting the homework done. If you are someone who enjoys or is good at symbolic logic, then this class will be pretty straightforward and I recommend taking it. If not, this class could potentially be pretty difficult as it is all about conceptualizing coding/logic gates into different circuits. Also, the professor made his own website and wrote his own book for the class which are both pretty amazing and easy to follow.
In the beginning of this class, Gabriel informed us that this class would "not be an easy A." By that, he meant it is almost impossible to get an A. Although he does an overall good job of explaining the difficult material, he expects you to basically make this class your entire life. I completed every reading, every quiz, went to every lecture, yet still somehow was unable to get an A on any of the essays that I slaved away on for days. Also, I find him incredibly irritating and arrogant. If you get Esther Nibkin for your T.A., switch out immediately. She may seem chill and easy going, but she will rip apart your essays with unjustified reasoning. Unless you are willing to devote hours upon hours to this class, I strongly suggest not taking it unless you are a Philosophy major.
Professor Greenberg was an extremely insightful and interesting professor. His lectures were always engaging and he did his best to make sure that the class understood the concepts he presented and that we were paying attention. Although his grading was rather hard on the papers, it was fair and gave us plenty of commentary on what we should improve on. I would definitely take another philosophy class with him.
It's definitely one of BEST classes I've came across even if I only got A-. Materials covered were really interesting and the professor did a great job explaining them. My TA was Esther who is helpful and cool too.
It's not an easy GE though and I worked my ass off to get a decent score on my essays. But I never regret taking this class. Love it!
First and foremost, Greenberg is GORGEOUS! He distracted me 100% of the time. Regardless, his classes are fun. The subject is hard to.understand, and some reading are difficult. The essays he assigns are toughly graded. That being said, his lecture are entertaining, his handouts are useful and his office hours help drastically. I would take this instructor time and time again. It's not an easy A but his good looks and awesome lectures are worth the ride! Buckle up, people!
