Fall 2018 - This class is heavily based on group work, so your experience and how well you do will depend greatly on the quality of your group members. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to choose a good group!! There are lengthy case write ups due every week, in addition to a 40-page project and presentation due at the end of the quarter. These assignments are all completed in groups, so make sure to work with people that can be held accountable for their share of the work. The midterm was heavily based on cases and the numerical calculations taught in class, so make sure to review those, in addition to some of the major key concepts that he lists on the review slides in the lecture before the midterm. Also make sure to participate and make your voice heard at least once during every class meeting, because the TA makes note of who contributes (they give out name tags) and participation is a decent part of your grade. I’d recommend this class because I learned interesting and relevant skills (breakeven anaylsis, how to calculate customer LTV/CAC/churn, conjoint analysis) which are handy take-aways given that the majority of the 160 courses tend to focus heavily on frameworks and general information. With that being said, you will need to put in a decent amount of effort in order to get an A.
