Johanna (it says Eva but it's Johanna) Karlsson is the BOMB. A very sweet teacher and a very enjoyable class. I'm currently taking SCAND 3 with her and I've taken this class and SCAND 1 with her prior to this quarter.
Swedish is not a very commonly spoken language so taking it is also an uncommon thing. That being said, about half the class comes with prior Swedish knowledge either from home or studying abroad, which helps tremendously. I didn't have either of those but I felt the class was a fine pace for me anyway.
Johanna is extremely helpful and her classes are on Zoom because she currently lives in Lund, Sweden. A very cool perk while learning Swedish in my opinion. Participation is a large percentage of points and if you do the workbook and the little homework she assigns, you'll do very well and enjoy it. TAKE SWEDISH!!! Also if you can take it with a friend take it from me it is so fun.
Johanna is the best, so sweet and super helpful. Swedish itself is a fun and easy language to learn. The class is online since she teaches it from Sweden, but as long as you attend the lectures and do the hw you're going to succeed in this class.
