This lady fucking pisses me off.
I mean I got an A- but I SHOULD have gotten an A.
no matter how hard I tried, she just WOULDNT give me the A.
FUCK HER.
always telling me to change this and change that. I did, and followed EXACTLY what she told me to change and she started to bag on my intro paragraph (on ONE specific sentence that she said was perfect before) and disregard the rest of the essay! DA FUCK?!
And when I was stressed out because of finals week she tells you "it doesn't sound right" or "do you understand what im looking for?" WHAT DA FUCK LADY. I DID WHAT YOU TOLD ME TO.
she's sooooo annoying.
and on top of that she doesnt know how to do math. she spends 15 mins counting the people in class only to come up with the wrong number of ppl.
It u want an EASY A MINUS. go for this class. otherwise, I think shes just going to have to see some fuckin divine intervention or get some epiphany and realize that you DO do what she says and you DO pay attention in class and you DO participate in class and you DO write well and you DO improve from your last essays
UGH.
The person below described the grading scheme accurately. This class was really easy, you don't really have to try on the second paper because you only get two weeks to write it and you get the other eight weeks to prepare for the final revision of the first paper. You have to turn in a portfolio at the end but it's just a compilation of the notes you took during the quarter. She wasn't even strict about the page requirement and as long as you follow what she says for her revision comments you can do well.
Please disregard all other evaluations about this prof being an easy teacher etc.Your grade in this class is not dependent on how much work/effort you put in your papers (even if you revise your papers and turn them in because she doesn't actually read them and give you a grade so you won't ever know where you stand), but rather on how much she likes you.
You get 3 papers to write in this class: the first one is given a provisional grade, the second is an extension of the first (7-8 pages), and the third is a 4 page paper. Your highest grade on a paper is your writing score, which supposedly makes up 75% of your grade. The other 25% is all the other work you do- in-class writings, homework etc. In reality though, your paper grade is 100% of your grade, because she doesn't know how to do math. If you turn in all your work and your highest paper grade is an A-, you will get an A- in the class, as I did.
Her grading is entirely dependent on if she likes you as a person- if she likes you(if you participate in class a LOT, I would think), then you'd probably get an A. If she doesn't, then you're screwed. I never participated in class. On the first paper, I got a B/B+, which she said was one of the best in the class. On the second paper, she told me it was a good edit, but what did I get as my grade? A B+. Boy was I pissed off. So I started going to office hours and sucking up etc. for my third paper. She even said multiple times that my paper and ideas were good and this was an A level paper. But as I said earlier, I was just one of those people that she just "doesn't like," so obviously she didn't give me an A.
In short, don't take this professor. Take a different professor that actually grades objectively rather than subjectively.
Professor De is the best! She is such a sweetheart. Her class is what I pictured an English class in college would be. Her prompts are quite flexible so you get alot of freedom in terms of how you want to tackle them. She lets you resubmit essays so you get plenty of chances to get a good grade in the class. If you want your writing skills to improve, take her class.
Where do I start? Professor De is such a sweetheart! Besides her genuine concern for students progress with the course material, she is also concerned with student's overall well being. She is always smiling and is very, VERY passionate about English. The class was not hard at all, because she made it so engaging. She scheduled several "one-on-one" sessions with my class throughout the quarter to ensure that we understood her grading methods, and that we were satisfied with our grades. And in the event that a student wasnt happy with a grade...SHE ALLOWS YOU TO RESUBMIT the assignment with all necessary revisions, etc until you have the grade you feel you deserve. So, if you need Eng Comp 3, your best bet is to enroll with Prof De. There will never be a dull day in class!
Oh professor De!!! She is an amazing and extremely sweet person. Along with her great personality, her class was not too bad at all. While my roommate constantly complained of her english comp 3 workload, I found that the work given to us was a great pace in comparison. We had three essays to write the whole quarter and we were given time to revise all of them. I loved how we would watch really interesting movies that went along with each writing topic. Professor De is also very open when it comes to topic development -- her prompts are not set in concrete, neither are her essay lengths. This quality really gives us freedom to write as we wish and to develop on our own terms.
Overall I highly suggest her for english comp 3!!
