I love Professor Momeni! The class truly feels like one big discussion. She encouraged everyone to share their opinions and was always engaging. The workload is really fair—there are no exams, but we did have four in-class pop-up concept maps based on the readings, which were graded very fairly. If you prove you did the reading, you get 100%, simple as that. We also had a group project that was worth a good chunk of our grade, and honestly, it was a fun experience. Lastly, we had an essay, and it was one of my favorite assignments at UCLA. It was a creative writing essay, and I enjoyed exploring different topics. Professor Momeni is sweet, considerate, intelligent, and just overall amazing. I highly recommend taking any class with her!

I'm surprised this professor gets such high ratings. While it is clear that she is passionate about the topic and I did enjoy what I learned, she was quite all over the place with assignments and instructions. The first day she asked students how much reading they would like for the class and we agreed on 20-30 pages. For the rest of the quarter she then assigned over 50 pages of reading each week, sometimes with a long video too (1+ hour). She told us this would be an easy class, which I highly disagree with. The syllabus also wasn't posted until the class was already over (she only gave us a basic breakdown of assignments and the weight of them). The class consisted of a group final video essay (40%), a short essay (20%), 4 concept maps (20%) and attendance (20%). The concept maps were done in class at random to prove we did the readings which contributed to a lot of stress of whether we would be quizzed each day. The short essay was a new assignment so the instructions were vague and it was hard to find information for it. The video essay also came with limited instructions that she kept changing since she continued to be disappointed by people's presentations (which she would rudely voice in front of the whole class). She also does not foster a positive environment to ask questions and have discussions as she would tell students they were wrong, even when they were stating an opinion. While I did get a good grade, I am very shocked by it because she graded quite randomly often putting things in canvas as 100/0 which would make it hard to tell what you actually had in the class.

Dr Momeni clearly knows her subject very well and is incredibly passionate about what she teaches, which makes her a delightful professor. Her ability to integrate course material into absolutely any tangent that we go off with as a class is fascinating. My only qualms with Dr Momeni was that grading took forever. We went the whole quarter not knowing what grade we had in the class and by the time we had to write our final papers, worth 30% of the grade, we didn't know what we were going in with. Overall, though, it was an easy class and she seems to be a wonderful person so I would take her again.

class was broken down to weekly papers that only were 250-500 words. she allowed us to rewrite the papers that we received bad grades on. She was so kind and really engaging throughout the quarter. she always answered the emails very fast. she was a bit confusing at times but she's an easy grader and is always willing to help.
