I didn't know quite what to expect from this class, since there weren't any reviews of Professor Huhtamo. However, I soon figured out in weeks 1 and 2 that this was probably the chillest professor ever. He truly enjoys media arts and culture, and I admire his passion.
The class is really simple: a midterm presentation and paper, and also a final presentation and paper. He recommends doing them in groups (you have to for the final), but I think you could do the project solo only for the midterm if you wanted to.
He grades realllllly simply, and he even lets you rewrite the midterm paper for a better grade if you want. He just truly wants you to engage in the subject and put some good effort into it. The main reason why a lot of people didn't get an A on the midterm is that they didn't do enough research (some people only had like 2-3 sources), so make sure you engage a lot of relevant sources to show that you did your research. He even lets you pick your topic for both projects, so it's really fun!
For the weeks where students don't present the midterm or final projects, however, Huhtamo lectures the full 3 hours. It gets really boring sometimes, because he goes over the time a few times, but it's alright.
All in all, Huhtamo is a great professor who really wants you to take away something from the class, and the presentations students made were actually REALLY interesting and the Professor enjoyed them a lot as well.
Oh, and also, another 20-30% of your grade is making a post online on the class blog, which is relatively simple. Just make sure you don't forget to do it every week.
Take this class!
