Winter 2024 - I LOVE THIS MAN!! He was so amazing. Understanding, funny, so so engaging, he's passionate about teaching and he seriously really wants you to learn the material and he makes sure it happens. I hate math so much but I made it through his class and actually grew to enjoy some of the math!! His TA staff is also amazing, so competent, and they help him write his exams, so he really does what he can to curate it to the current level of the class. He provides so many practice and preparation opportunities for the midterm and final too! If you have the chance to take with this man you should 1000% do it I love him and miss him all the time

Fall 2024 - I highly recommend this class to all Computational Biology major. Not only is it easy, but I genuinely learned information beyond what is covered in a textbook. The class is designed by Prof Deeds and Hoffman based on their experience and research in the field. The class consists of weekly homework assignments (9 total with the lowest one dropped) worth 75% of the grade, attendance worth 10% of the grade, and a final project (2-3 page paper + 4 figures) worth 15% of the grade. The grading is VERY easy; even if you don't pay attention in class, the homework takes around 1-2 hours (3 hours max) with little to no coding. The TAs in the class are also very helpful with debugging and the final project. We were also allowed to work in groups for the final project, but everyone had to submit their individual paper. As the grade distribution indicates, this class is a VERY easy A. Overall, I'd highly recommend this class.
