Dr. Zaidel taught the last few weeks of Psych 116 during Fall 2001. He's a nice guy, but he completely underestimates the amount of work that he gives his students. We had to write a paper that was due finals week, and he was talking about how the paper was no big deal, and how it should only be 5 pages long. I basically spent 3 days doing nothing but working on that paper, and it turned out to be 12 pages long, and mine was one of the shorter ones. Oh well, I still recommend this professor. At least his lectures weren't dull.

Psych 119G He is a terrible teacher. His lectures are confusing, he rambles on about unrelated subjects so it's difficult to discern what the important topics are, and he doesn't follow his slides. His lectures are extremely unorganized. He also does not relate the readings to his lectures like he is supposed to, so he never goes over what he wants you to know. I would not recommend this class.

This is the first time this class was thought in the psychology department. It is Brain, Mind, and Motion Picture. The professor is a nice person and he really knows the material he presents. The downside: his powerpoints are not that helpful when it comes to studying. His lectures are mostly outlines of topics he discusses in class with images to better explain the material. The lectures do not have all the information needed to do well in the class you have to listen carefully, ask questions, and make sure you understand the material. There are quizzes based on readings which are 35% of your grade. The final is 65% and had some short answer questions of which were no surprise since he gives you hints which questions he was going to ask for the short answer. The quizzes are not too difficult but do not take them lightly. Although he basically gave out some easy points in the final by using some questions you have seen before do not get the wrong impression the class is an easy A. If you cant explain a certain topic or image in the slides then you do not fully know the material and would recommend to go to his office hours. I did not and my grade suffered.
