Took this over summer—no HW, midterm 45%, final 55%. He gives you everything you need to study, and I studied really hard for both. I got an A on my midterm and somehow, an F on my final. Great teacher, bad handwriting, and the final was just much more nit-picky than the midterm. Would still recommend the class.
Professor Mcdevitt is hands down the best professor in the econ dept. His tests are not hard if you keep the notes next to you (open book) but you should complete all of his study questions and practice exams he shares before the exams. Every class with Mcdevitt is similar: if you watch all the lectures, do the practice questions and have a cheat sheet for the test, this class in an easy A.
Mcdevitt is incredibly clear in his material. He really knows his stuff, and his exams are very fair, but can be on the harder side. I can see how it can be time sensitive. The multiple choice is incredibly hard. It might even be harder than the free response, honestly because some multiple choice questions can go down to "g." Not just the simple "a, b, c, d," but it goes down to "g." BUT he's a good lecturer, so he does teach the things that he tests. It's a solid econ class, and you probably deserve the grade you get.
