Wouldn't take a course with him again. He takes attendance very serious and it basically cost me my grade considering that I was on top of all his assignments and course work (which I didn't think was fair but oh well). Took over a month to receive a grade for a short paper we wrote. Lots of break out room activities.
This is the BEST class I've ever taken at UCLA! Dr. Cole's design of this class makes it very interactive and discussion based (make sure to do the readings!). I really enjoyed the readings, and even the writing assignments, because it's very flexible. Everyone picks their own topic, so if there's something you're especially interested in, you can go deeper. Don't take it as an easy A though, because I know a lot of people who did, didn't do very well on the written assignments. If you're genuinely interested in higher education, you'll do well in this class.
Super nice professor and the class itself was "easy." Relatively small amount of assignments and seemed very manageable. This was until nothing was graded until the last week and the grades in my opinion were very unfair and the feedback was minimal. Did not reflect the vibe of the class at all.
This class was very fun and easy and felt like fresh air throughout the quarter. However, the grading seemed a tad harsh and all assignments were returned to us fairly late. My grade was relatively unknown until the week of finals. Nice professor though.
