Really, really, really strong accent that takes a long time to get used to. Not a standard Israeli accent, like, a strong one and he also yells in this high voice and sounds like a muppet. But actually not a super complex class, pay attention to slides (not super helpful to go to lecture) and you can get by.
Professor Levin sets his grades based off: midterm 38%, final 60%, and course evaluation 2%. He is very dry and relies fully on powerpoint. His test are focused mainly on what is presented during his lectures, but he does ask a few questions on the readings. In his test be sure to be thorough and give more than what he asks for, as I only answered what he asked and received a D. Honestly I should've studied more, but I cannot stress the importance of being extremely thorough on the tests. Good luck and remember to study for everything as his final is cumulative.
To start off, I didn't like my grade either times I took Levin, but I truly appreciate his teaching style. He's hilarious (always says bless you) and is very welcoming to questions regarding his lectures. He relies solely on PowerPoint slides to teach- but you can't get away with missing class bc he provides a lot of detailed analysis in class about the material. YOU WILL HAVE TO MEMORIZE THE TERMS ON THE POWERPOINTTO GET A GOOD GRADE.. This seems obvious, It's a bit frustrating because this class requires a lot of regurgitation and not much critical analysis. He's an extremely harsh grader. He provides a lot of great outside reading, but you really will only need to know 5% of it to do well. Memorize the power points and you will do fine.
Selling 3rd EDITION of "World Politics" by Friedman/Lake/Schultz.
It's a required text for POL SCI 20. Great condition.
