Fall 2022 - This class is meant to correspond with an internship so there actually isn't a lecture or discussion; however, you are required to meet with your graduate student instructor five times during the quarter. These meetings are scheduled whenever you and your grad student are available and typically last less than 30 minutes. You don't need to really prepare anything for these meetings most times and they are super chill! There are weekly readings/videos that tend to be extremely dense sometimes, but you don't need to read them very thoroughly to complete the corresponding weekly papers. I think your grade primarily depends on how your grad student grades (not the professor) since they are the ones who read and review your papers. The grad student during my quarter was extremely kind and very understanding! During the TA strike, Dr. Barerra graded all of our assignments and completed the meetings and he was also very kind and understanding. He actually even decreased the meeting requirement from five to four meetings due to the strike! The final assignment is just an 8-10 page research paper on basically anything you want related to your internship and it is due the weekend after finals week so it won't interfere with studying with other classes. You could honestly probably just crank it out in a couple of days. There are no quizzes/tests/exams in this course. Overall, definitely do not hesitate to take this class! It was a very enjoyable/laidback class with interesting readings!!
