Horrible horrible horrible.
This is actually in reference to Public Health Nursing. Let me just say that the only thing I enjoyed about this class was a few of the tours we took in the clinical. Otherwise, it pretty much just frustrated me versus enlightened me. I felt frustrated completing all of the numerous quizzes, reading the 100 page syllabus that tells you nothing, and trying to write a paper I had no idea what to write about. We had the same 3 teachers again as the health promotion class, which proved to be just another redo of the course (same style of paper, same confusing information, and same level of disorganization). enjoy!
First let me say: This class is a 'crock': The instruction did not involve improving nor developing students writing skills, we focused on APA format (which changes every couple of years)They changed the 26 page syllabus every other class meeting, the TAs were all on a different page and the professors did not agree either. They did not expect scholarly writing, so no worries for any of you who feel threatened by that possibility. What they expected was OBEDIENCE, SUBMISSION, for students to write exactly what they ask. This is not a real writing class, it just isnt. I still make bad grammatical errors and learned zilch, diddly squat. If you wanna really learn to write I advise you taking a class offered by the English department (literature) the professors there do not have a vendetta against students. They actually want to help you.
Hints to success: 1.OBEY DR WILEY, 2. OBEY DR WILEY, 3. OBEY DR WILEY, you will be fine as long as she doesnt perceive your intelligence as a threat to her authority.
FOR CLASS N152W, I HATE THIS USELESS CLASS!! they dont even give you the grading rubric so that you know EXACTLY what they will be grading on!! its ALWAYS a surprise when you get your horrible grades back because you didnt "do it right" even though they never TOLD YOU WHAT TO DO! they expect you to write a bunch of crap without giving you instruction on what to write on!! EVERYONE tells you different things and none of the teachers agree on what needs to be said in the paper so who loses out? THE STUDENT! plus the topics are all over the place, they clearly made this class up out of nothing! making it USELESS. it doesnt even relate to nursing half the time! in the nursing program they forced you to complete writing 2 before your 3rd year only to force you to retake it in this horrible class! MY ADVICE: dont even bother taking writing 2 your first 2 years. and if you can, try to overthrow this class, its the most disorganized waste of time class you'll ever take. you'd think that after 4 years of having this class up, theyd finally learn how to organize it by now...NOPE! seriously, im paying tuition for THIS?
for N252 I agree this course stinks! It's all over the place and so very unorganized. I didn't learn anything, I didn't enjoy the writing aspect of it all because no one knew what was to be expected, it was like they just threw together a course last minute. i mean there is no central theme to this course, it felt like a GE in which I didn't learn anything valuable to take with me to clinical practice. I didn't enjoy this so called course in the least bit.
