Took his class during zoom university, and I would definitely take him again.
Honestly the work in the first few weeks is slightly heavier than later in the quarter but truly if you ever took an AP English class in HS, the work is no more heavy than that in the first few weeks.

As long as you try and seek to improve and meet all the easy deadlines you WILL get an A, something a lot of other EngComp3/EngComp3D professors will make you claw for.

I learned some things about writing, we have a couple short essays and one large essay about California Propositions. We ended with a pretty easy podcast about our experience in the class. Overall, out of all the selections of professors for satisfying Writing I requirements he's definitely the best one!

Quarter: Fall 2019

Overall, I didn't really like this class. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty easy to get by with an A as long as you know how to write an argumentative essay (though you have to follow certain methods he expects you to use) and if you talk a couple of times throughout the classes. The essays were no longer than 2-4 pages, with the final essay being 4-6 pages. You also have to record a 20-30 minute podcast in a group of 5, which was a bit annoying and tedious but kind of easy in the end. Compared to another professor my friend had for English Comp. 3, I apparently had it much easier as Vincent is pretty nice with assigning a small amount of work.

However, I feel like I didn't learn anything from the class. All I did was write about racial topics or anything related to discrimination and stereotyping. The course reader he requires is expensive at about $70, but you can pretend you read it as he goes over the content during class in his slides (the books are about how to write and he doesn't test you on if you read or not). Overall it was a decent class to fulfill your requirements but I wish I had topics that were more interesting to me to write about.

All the "extra credit" and optional assignments were for credit because he said you'd only get an A if you turned all of them in. He was sweet but fuck his grading policy.

The class and professor are pretty good. This class essentially has regular assignments and writing projects. The 4 writing projects are larger, and take more time. When I took it, there were only 2 writing projects due to time constraints. Class is pretty much a discussion on various topics. It isn't a lot of work, but some weeks there is much more to do than others. Some weeks you need to write a lot, other weeks you only meet once/none out of the scheduled two classes. At the end of the quarter you turn in revised versions of a few assignments, for us it was 2 assignments + the 2 writing projects + a reflection. In general, there isn't a set word limit. The only one was a 850-1000 word limit on a writing project. Idk how much he expects, but I feel I didn't write that much and did okay.

I found the actual meetings to be engaging enough. Participation matters so make sure you talk at least a few times. Most of time you'll be discussing something you read before class. The grading seems fair, but you won't know what you have until the very end. This isn't really a problem since he's a easy grader. As long as you do the bare minimum, I think you are guaranteed at least a B.

If you want an interesting and not stressful English class, this class is pretty good. Professor Vincent is pretty interesting and makes sure class is somewhat engaging.

NOTE: If you hate talking about race, then don't take this class. All our discussions and almost all the papers involve race in someway, specifically race in America.

Vincent was honestly a cool person, everyone is basically guaranteed an A as long as you try. Even if your work isn't the best. I honestly slacked off and missed one essay and didn't did homework an hour before it was due. Vincent is really understanding. I recommend you participate a lot in class. Highly recommend taking ENG Comp 3D with Vincent over other teachers.

Donald is very picky. Essays not tailored specifically to what he wants to hear will score poorly. Even opinion pieces that are supposed to reflect how the writer feels are subject to Donalds own opinions and things going against what he thinks will once again e graded poorly. Basically just write what he wants to hear and be a teachers pet in class if you want to do well.

I just found class kinda boring? Trust me I loved not having class for almost an entire week or not being in the class zoom some days but then I should've taken advantage and taken a fourth class. My biggest regert nun

Anyways class was not very difficult and group work isn't that bad, just weird when you finish doing everything and you sit there like ok do I leave now 0-0

As a freshman, I wanted these peeps to be mi fwends, but its zoom so what do you expect? Overall a great class tho you can do it especially bc Vincent is such a cool guy

tl;dr: vincent is a pretty good prof

idk why but i disagree with a lot of the previous reviews. the work that he assigns is kinda crazy like the first 2 weeks we would have a 6-8 pg essay due in 2-3 days. so like 12-15 hrs of work a week in the first two weeks. after that it was super chill. we had like no more essays and instead we made a brochure, typed an email, and recorded a podcast (this was a group project). in the latter half of the quarter we would have like 2 hrs of work a week which is chill.

After you get thru the first two weeks youre actually chilling ngl. vincent geniunely loves teaching and has a lot of personality (in a good way). the class is smol (20-30 ppl) but he requires participation. so basically turn ur camera on, speak in class, and show up on time. workload is heavy in the beginning but light towards the end. also he made us form groups but ngl i kinda appreciate this cause covid making me lonely lol also the ppl in my group kinda cute o.o (if ur in my group hmu in the groupme :))

only gripe i have is that we were super confused as to the specifics of the projects. we would have 3 projects + random hw. he replies to emails like twice a week which is kinda annoying ngl and half the time we were confused to some parts. but we yoloed it and i got an A anyways. oh also we have no idea how he specifically grades stuff, he just gave us a final grade lol.

also if ur conservative you might wanna stay away we talk about left leaning topics. but then again if ur democrat, you'll probably enjoy it.

also vincent is super accomidating (as long as you reach out to him after class cause he takes super long to respond to email)

If youre reading this and this helped you out, pls review ur profs!! itll help us all out uwu

The class got easier and lighter as the quarter progressed. Prof. Vincent always had so much energy and never failed to make online classes engaging, but he had a lot of commitments outside of teaching and it showed. We had 3 main assignments throughout the quarter but none of them was graded then. They needed to be revised (due finals week) and that's when we finally got a grade. It was a bit annoying having absolutely no idea what grade I'd get until the last minute, but I got an A so I'm not really complaining. I didn't put a lot of effort into the class, so I would say he's an easy grader. According to the grading contract, if you do the bare minimum you'd get a B+, but there aren't really clear criteria for A- and A.
