Essentially an art history class of Britain and France in the nineteenth century. For me, this was a little boring, but Professor Silverman is a very fair grader and by no means a bad teacher. so I could see how someone with a passion for art would enjoy it. The reading is fairly standard for a history class, although I found it rather dry.
She doesn't like it when you leave early or come in late without warning. If it happens to you, you might get put on the spot- so don't be that person.
There's two in class discussions for the readings. If you actually do the readings for those days and show her you're not a statue, the difference will show up in your grade.
Take this class if you are interested in:
John Ruskin
William Morris
Charles Baudelaire
The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood
The influence of industrialization and revolution on art
