Fall 2018 - This is still one of my favorite classes I have taken here. Panagia is a great lecturer (he also gets points for snazzy dressing and humor), he is really good at explaining and elaborating on the readings. This is one of the few classes where I actually felt like I got genuine extra value from going to lecture as he introduced material and made the readings so much more clear and interesting. I think the content is quite cool to learn about as well and just expands your understanding of the world. That being said, the readings can be quite dense and the assignments were sometimes difficult, but nothing that can't be overcome.

Winter 2024 - 3 Keyword assignments that consisted of about 9 pages each throughout the semester, and a final 1,000 word paper where you write a response to a prompt generated by chat gpt. Panagia is very interesting but sometimes he would go on and on and I would lose track on his point, he is funny and likable and easy to talk to. Participation in lecture matters if you want a better understanding of the material but not for actual credit. If you have Vanessa P she makes you do all these extra assignments on top in order to earn that participation credit and the work is easy although it is time consuming, I spoke to other students who had a diff TA and they said all they did to earn participation credit was show up so I didn't think that was fair but it is what it is. She does not respond to emails. She seems to really know her stuff though so I did appreciate that from her.

Winter 2020 - if you're not into theory, this class will probably be boring and you'll never attend lecture (just a heads up). assignments are essays based on theory readings and films. Prof. Panagia's lectures are not structured at all, there are no slides, and it often seems like he is just making stuff up as he goes (but perhaps thats what theory is?). this is an easy class if you're good at writing and analyzing theory, film, and politics. that's all this class is: analyzing. Overall an easy class (but often boring)
