Professor Weisbart was an EXCELLENT math professor. A lot of people in the class thought that the pace we were going at was slow, but it really was just Weisbart's great planning. He LOVES teaching. Nothing makes him happier than seeing his students succeed. He will stop lecture for one individual question, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it, but the pace is at a level where it allows for in depth analysis of topics. Also, it's amazing how well Weisbart knows his stuff. He never comes in with notes, just goes up to the whiteboard and does his thing. It does get annoying sometimes when he has to erase his work a lot but he shows us how to do math, not memorize equations.
Weisbart's exams are very fair. A lot of people say that they are overly easy, but how can you make it anymore difficult? If you do a bunch of practice problems, you will do well on the exams. To study, all I did was go to the hw section and do every odd problem. When I got to midterms and finals, I was so ready that it was easy. Weisbart doesn't trick you. Even if half of his students exit the class with an A, all of them know how to do the math.
Overall, take Weisbart, if I can again I definitely will.
David Weisbart is a really good teacher. He knows what he is talking about, is more than welcoming in the office hours. His tests are not directly from the textbook so you got to watch out for his lectures. His class average for my class was really high for all the midterms and the final, but he curves in a way that it never goes against you.
If you can, TAKE HIM. You would not regret. And yeah, he has a special grading system in which if you do well on the final, it accounts for 100% for the grade- this scheme landed me an A+.
An excellent math professor - the best I've had at UCLA so far. The class was fairly easy because his tests are straightforward, no tricks. Maybe that's why the curve was so high.
If you want a professor who really knows what he's talking about, is excited to teach, is very welcoming at office hours, and has a completely fair grading system, take Weisbart. If you can't handle relatively unimportant tangents or some repetition of concepts, he might annoy you.
I usually don't submit evaluations, but I liked this professor so much that I needed to do this.
He's by far my favorite professor here, so far. Weisbart (he tells us to call him David) can go with the flow of the class, meaning he will teach us what we want to learn and when. He doesn't go off of a written plan, so it's awesome NOT having a professor read off proofs from some paper that you copy down. His pace is the class' pace.
He's also a really interesting person. He was telling us random things about history and life in general (yeah that was really corny, but it's true).
I took him during the summer. Tests were really fair! I never felt like he was trying to trick us in any way. He's also a really friendly, approachable, and patient professor. He's just awesome! 3C with him is just the best.
David (he insists on being called David) was one of the best, if not the best math professors I ever had. I learned more in his class than in any other math class. He gave us a true intuitive understanding of the material, rather than just teaching us how to do various problems.
His tests were very fair; he never tried to trick anyone, but he definitely demanded a comprehensive understanding of the material. Overall, great professor, would take him again for any math class.
His lectures are a bit unorganized but he is a really nice guy and want everyone to succeed. Take him ! better than all the other math 3c professors. plus he is really really hot. you will never want to miss class just to get to see his ripped body up there lecturing.
Weisbart is a young, buff (really) professor who likes to be more personal with his students, instead of being the professor who just lectures at you. I also like how he doesn't read off notes.
Pretty chill dude, I wish I had payed more attention.
I took 3C with him over the summer, and he is by far the best professor I've had at UCLA. I didn't find him too unorganized because honestly, there are so many professors who are even more unorganized. On the occasions when he forgot his lecture notes, I enjoyed watching him derive from memory on the board - he knows his stuff!!
I liked how he was always so enthusiastic to teach the material - you can't learn probability any better than learning it through poker hands and Russian roulette haha. ;] He also cares a lot about your learning and tries his very best to get everyone to understand the material, although he does tend to go off into tangents during office hours ('cause he's so eager to teach!).
Definitely take him if you can! :)
