Levine is very knowledgable, but the course is rather boring, like all other econ courses. To do well in the class you should try to make it to all the lectures. The past midterms and finals are important for the exams, but beware of trick questions. Levine recently changed the tests so that they don't follow the pattern of the past exams, so try to understand concepts rather than just following the patterns. I barely went to class, failed the midterm, but did all the homework sets, and studied the day before the final and amazingly, I got an A- in the class. Try not to follow my example. One thing I must say is that you should find a good TA. Gustavo Adler (I don't know if he's still TAing) was awesome and his sections and review sessions helped A LOT.
I feel like I've learned almost nothing from this class. The material is somewhat interesting, and his homeworks and tests are straightforward, but if you're looking to really LEARN something, don't take this class. His lectures are a waste of time, he spends too much time on simple concepts.
Everything is on powerpoint slides, which can be very irritating since he can't go over each step through powerpoint.
This class doesn't take much work, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Levine is a so-so professor for 101, he focuses a lot on game theory, he's somewhat helpful, his tests can be challenging...you could study everything in your notes, homework, practice tests he gives you and he'll still throw you a curve ball, typical econ prof, typical econ tests, overall he was okay...i got a B, but then I didn't start studying until after the midterm...not great, not bad, just okay...the good thing about his class is he doesn't require a book, just print out his lecture notes at the Pub Pol kiosk
Professor Levine is a very organized lecturer. There was no text book but you can download slides from his website. To do well in the class, just practice the old midterms and old finals and you will do fine. He is a great teacher to take 101 from because all you learn is game theory which is very interesting(not alot of calculus like other professors)Overall he is a good professor, take him!!!
Best econ 101 proff. I don't know what you guys are talking about he had extra OH before both the midterm and the final. His test are straight from past test, and he posts then on his site. Take Levine if you can or you might be stuck with some proff. that can't even speak english
I do not know what the other people are talking about. Levine really is a good teacher, and he is really out to help the students. He had extra O.H. before both the midterm and the final. He makes note taking easy, because everything he lectures is online. He is very straight forward on his exams, just study previous exams and you should be fine. If you have a chance to take Levine for econ 101, then take him he is way better than all the other proff.
