I took this class over c sesh and it was actually the easiest class I have taken at UCLA. There is one 200-word discussion post every week and 2 multiple-choice quizzes that are very easy and simple. Overall, would recommend taking it.
Weekly quizzes and one essay with an essentially open topic. If you are interested in any aspects of theater at all the content is interesting and easy to understand. Professor is very engaging and passionate about the subjects.
I took this as a six-week class during C-sesh but wow was it a tremendous amount of work. Each week we were expected to watch 2-3 lectures (about 3 hours long) + watch 2 documentaries (3 hours) and read a number of hefty articles. This material was all covered on the weekly quizzes which were very specific and anxiety-driving. There is a final paper at the end of the six weeks that has a word count and because of that, I feel like there was not enough content to fulfill that word count. Maybe it was because this was a quick class covering 10 weeks of material but I felt that it was so much work. would not want to take another class with this prof.
I really enjoyed taking theater 10 over C-session online. Each week the teacher would post engaging lecture videos, occasionally a reading, and online quizzes to be completed through Canvas. The material was easy to understand and the teacher was very supportive. Easy GE that I would definitely recommend!
This class was asynchronous, but it is an extremely amazing GE to take and the workload is very manageable. There were two lecture modules per week with an associated 10 question quiz which was pretty simple if you listened to the lecture and did the readings. Additionally, you had to write a short 200 wordish discussion post each week and reply to another student as well. One lowest score in each category was dropped. There was also one term paper regarding a theater topic, but we were allowed to choose our own deadline, which was great and the paper was graded very fairly. Overall, I really recommend taking this class as a GE.
Super easy GE, just 2 easy quizzes and a discussion board a week, plus one essay on whatever play/musical you’d like. Really doable.
Professor Gorshein is a wonderful professor, very concerned with student understanding, very clear with expectations, and very approachable. The only downside is that his lectures for this class were a little all over the place, but it did not make a huge difference. He somehow manages to conduct questions in a lecture hall, and encourage student participation. I was able to approach him before class with questions about tests, and tell him about lectures I would miss and how to make them up, and he was very understanding. Very good class, if the lecture was long sometimes.

Professor Gorshein is an awesome Professor. He's passionate, kind, intelligent and inspiring. I actually took his Intro Theatre course ONLINE. But it was amazing. I heard great things about his lectures, and this definitely translated to the small screen. I hope though, we don't end up in a day and age where professors are not teaching in person though.
Definitely seek his courses out and take one. It will be an awesome experience at UCLA!
