Really nice, caring and concerned. Lots of writing at first but work load starts to ease off. Class is relatively easy, it gets boring though. Office hour is extremely helpful, she goes through your paper with you paragraph by paragraph, pointing out what's not working and what's ok. I really recommend her.

I took Professor Watson for Eng Comp 3. She is very caring professor (even sends us advice on how to relax during finals week). Her essay prompts are kinda hard to do, but she is more than willing to help you out if you go to her office hours. There were a lot of short writing assignments, which were tedious to do but they really help you hone your writing skills and help you prepare for your actual essay. There are four essays, which is a lot for only 10 weeks. First is a memoir, then a lit analysis, a summary and comparison of two positions, and finally a policy paper. I recommend taking this class if you have a lot of time on your hand. She is an excellent professor. Attend her office hours!!! and you'll be able to get a good grade on your essays. If you need her textbooks for this course please email me at *************

Fall 2019 - The professor was often vague about expectations and gave poor grades on assignments when they didn't do specifically what she wanted, even though she never told us that that was. The assignments themselves are not extremely difficult and are pretty minimal writing for an english course, though they can be time consuming.

Winter 2024 - Dr. Watson/ Dana was my favorite professor this quarter! I was really nervous about taking the class since even from the syllabus, you can see it is a very intense course (and it definitely has an Honors level workload, which was a lot more than my other GE writing II). There is a lot of readings and homework, but I will say Dana picks stuff out that genuinely is interesting (if you have an interest in the syllabus) and she is so so kind in regards to personal circumstances. Dana is extremely approachable, and if you take 43W I highly recommend going to her OH for essay help or clarifying ideas -- she genuinely wants to see you learn and grow, and as a student in mostly science classes, I was extremely scared to take an Honors writing II. The essays you write in H43W are very much based on your own interests, and you get feedback from peers and Dana on how to expand on these ideas in the best ways possible. The seminar can feel long at times (especially if you did not do the readings and are going into class with no knowledge) but I enjoyed having these discussions since I feel like this class has made me more intellectually aware and conscious, and seriously has done wonders for my writing skills. Dana has given me so much confidence and encouragement in pursuing what I am passionate about, and although there is a lot of work (the final essay is 10-16 pages + readings and extra assignments) you get so much knowledge out of the class and without 43W I think I would be missing out on a huge part of my UCLA academic experience.
