Weekly quizzes, no midterms/finals, not cumulative. I never went to lecture, quizzes were straight out of the book. Ended up with an A. I also TA'ed for her a year later, and she was really quirky, but overall a really nice lady.
sooooo easy. Her lectures are super boring; she just puts the bold terms on a powerpoint and then reads them, but sometimes she shows interesting videos. and sometimes she's kind of funny, too. You don't have to go to class, though. Just read the book, show up on fridays for 20 minutes to take her ridiculously easy quizzes, and get an A+ like me. Do it!!!
oh and she'll tell you that you have to come to class on wednesdays to pick up the scantrons for the quizzes on fridays: complete bs! There's always a pile of scantrons in the front of the room every friday. don't believe her.
oh yeah, and there's no final, either.
I didn't go to lecture or buy the book for this class and I ended up with an A. She gives you eight tests, which are 25 multiple choice questions every Friday except for two of them. Each test is based on 2 chapters of reading from the book. Visit the library reserve section Thursday night for 2 hours and read one of the assigned chapters, and then come back the next morning and read the other chapter before taking the test at 2pm. The material is easy to understand and interesting too. No lectures, no book, less stress during finals week, and interesting material. Take this class, you won't regret it.
This class was incredibly easy. If you need to take this class as a prerequisite, you definitely need to take it with her. The format is no midterm, final or papers. Instead there are 8 25-question multiple choice tests (that are unbelievably easy and based off of her lectures as well as the readings). There is no curve and your grade is comprised literally of just those 8 quizzes. If you just attend lecture and exert some common sense, you don't have to read the book. I stopped reading half way through the quarter because I was busy with other classes, attended every lecture and studied my notes and I ended up with an A+. Very chill class.
If you need to take Psych 10, take it with her. This class was the easiest class I have taken by far. No midterm or final, just quizzes. I spent next to no time studying and still got an A. Zaidel is really sweet too and funny in lecture.
I went to class for 10 minutes each week on Friday to take the quiz. Otherwise, I have never sat through a lecture and I got an A. Do all the reading, which is a reasonable 2 chapters each week. Because there is a quiz each week the worst procrastinating can ever get is 80 pages of reading the night before, which everyone pretty much does right outside the classroom door before class starts. Super easy, don't take psych 10 with anyone else as my friends have and regretted.
Don't take Psych 10 with anyone else! Even though it's a bit of a pain to have to go to the weekly quizzes, which are on Fridays, well...that's the only day of the week you have to go. She has 8 quizzes (skipping one of the weeks in the middle of the quarter and ninth week) which are based purely on the reading and have 25, four-choice multiple choice questions. She scares you a bit at the beginning by insisting you come on Wednesdays to pick up the scantrons, but most people just get them on the day of the quiz. I once overheard someone saying he only read the glossary, but in any case, doing the reading is still pretty necessary. Other than the quizzes, you have to participate in some experiments, which are a bit of a pain, but overall, it's a really, really easy class and easily an A+ if you do the reading.
Wonderful class. If you are good at reading the assigned material and you study a bit, this your opportunity to get your first A+ at UCLA. Don't misunderstand me, though. You will need to do some serious reading, but if you do it, you're almost guaranteed a good grade. The lectures are a little boring, but her method of testing makes up for it. Quizes every week. No midterm or final!
