His lecture consists of 45 minutes of proofs and 5 minutes of examples, with only one question on proofs in the final. His tests are really difficult, and there are a lot of curve balls. The average was around 50-60%. The only reason I did well in this class was because I took calc BC in high school and had a great teacher there. I would recommend picking up a AP Test prep book for this class. I remember one example he had on the first midterm being a question cookie cutter AP calc bc exam question. If you can go through the problems in the AP Test prep book for BC, then you should be able to do his fairly easily. Just make sure you know your trig identities!

It's hard to find an above average math teacher that is both interesting and goes beyond just teaching straight out of the book. Schroeder is no exception to this rule. Most of his lectures are derivations and concepts that you could learn out of the book yourself. His exams are also incredibly hard because he makes it his life goal to have 50% or below test averages. He made 31B much harder than it had to be.

Only half the class attended lecture. I already took calculus BC in high school so I didn't go to lecture and reviewed from the book and I managed a B.

The trick to his exams are that he'll usually have a problem early on that takes awhile to do. Then he'll put a problem later on that uses the answer from the previous problem as a shortcut, but you'll have to figure this out on your own as it is not especially obvious. If you don't notice this you can still do the problem, it'll just take you longer than you probably have time for.

Overall I would avoid schroeder if possible

Lectures proofs all day long. His final was a lot harder than his midterms and took my grade from a solid a to a b-, so don't make the same mistake I did and think it would be just as easy as the midterms. A lot of people struggled in this class, but it is not impossible. He curves a lot, but still not enough sometimes. His test questions are not straight forward, they are always a tricky one but if you pay attention in class and on the homework, the tricks are easier to spot.
