I have to say that you will learn a lot from taking his class, especially go to his office hours. he can find so many different approaches to help you understand the materials. Midterms are pretty easy, Final is super difficult. He wants people to fully understand all the content in the textbook. I have to say that this professor is a super genius, and he cares about students especially if you want to get it a try. I personally really really appreciated him to be my 142 professor. My recommendation is: read the book, do the homework problems by yourself even though homework is not count towards to your grade. (DO NOT TRY TO LEARN FROM THE ANSWER KEY. DO BY YOURSELF!) ask him about materials you don't understand. Final is hard, but he curves. average for us was 30% for the final. Reading the book and trying to learn things on your own is not a good idea for his final. I suggest to go to his lecture and his office hours.
The course I took last quarter was his 142. According to my friends who used to take other professors' 142, 142 is an easy class. But when I took Schroeder's 142, I understood what the word ' suicide ' means. His 142 is the hardest class I have taken in UCLA, especially for the final, which makes you want to end your life immediately. What I wanna say: you wanna be alive? Do not take his class!
Totally pointless... He is willing to help you, and his lectures are not hard to follow, but his exams, especially his final, are extremely hard. I don't get it. Maybe he enjoys messing with his students and seeing them suffer. 施罗德你爸也死了。
