Professor Enders is the BEST!!!!! I have taken statistics in community college and this course was pretty much the same thing. He does ask questions via an app he gives points just for answering them (right or wrong) so make sure you go to class so you know when its time to answer a question FYI this does go into your grade at the end of the quarter so don't miss class or you'll miss a question! He assigns online quizzes that you can take as many times as you want until your happy with the grade you got, he also assigns about 6 assignments throughout the quarter and as long as you understand the material he is presenting then these assignments will be no problem for you. One midterm and one final, honestly I thought these were challenging, the first exam I got a B+ but the final got an A+ because I studied my butt off for it, he expects you to know how to interpret data the exact way that he does. Everyone said this class would be challenging and I think it was, but I had peer learning and worked a little harder than most and ended up with an A in the course, also, he doesn't assign any (-) grades, so a 90% and about is an A. No textbook required!
He's an excellent professor and that made the class easier than I was expecting. He posts online quizzes very often, but you have unlimited attempts to get 100%. It is also important to have study groups (maybe create a GroupMe to discuss questions about the assignments). He took attendance through polleverywhere so you don't have to be physically in class to get the points as long as you are connected from home and answer his poll on time. Make a friend so that person can text you if he includes a question with a specific code provided in class to get credit for the attendance. If you have any questions, don't hesitate in asking him. He's a very helpful professor and it's pretty obvious he truly enjoys teaching. Quizzes, assignments and attendance points weight 30% in total and if you are on top of everything (asking and submitting everything on time), you should be able to get all the points for that 30%.
I looooved this class. Stats can be tedious but Professor Enders simplified everything and made this class doable. Quizzes are online can be taken over and over again for a perfect score. Exams aren't too bad and you get a cheat sheet. A large portion of the class relied on using the program R and understanding it so, make sure to pay attention. Definitely take this class with Enders!
Prof. Enders is AMAZING! He is definitely one of the best professors I have taken at UCLA. His lectures are clear, well-organized, and interesting. He uses apps for in-class participation and SPSS for data analysis, which makes things much more fun and interesting than crunching numbers by hand. I have taken another class with him after 100A and it was great as well.
Psych 100A with Enders was honestly the best class I've taken at UCLA. Personally, I think Enders is generally good at teaching, he is able to clearly explain the material. He is concise, yet explains the material in a way that is understandable for all students. At first I thought it would be a lot of work, since there are quizzes after every topic BUT these quizzes are posted for a week online, and you can take multiple times until you reach 100%. Not only is this a good grade opportunity, but it also helps when studying for the midterm and final. I studied the quizzes, along with his slides for the exams and I did really well on both. Please go to lecture because it is much easier to understand the material if you go to class, plus he uses poll everywhere for attendance. I could've got an A+ in the class but I might've missed like two lectures. So go to lecture. What I also found helpful was having a groupme with several students taking the class. Together we discussed lab assignments, because sometimes the multiple choice questions were tricky. Having a group chat is a good idea because you can debate the answers and maybe change your answer because you've been convinced by other people's reasoning. Enders also allows a cheat sheet for both exams, but honestly if you studied enough you won't need it. I made cheat sheets for both exams but I only used it like once for both exams and I still did really well. Basically, go to lecture(easy attendance points), study the quizzes, do the lab assignments and you'll do great. All the quizzes and material are good resources to prepare you for the exams ! Goodluck ! Enders is awesome and deserves a review :)
EASY CLASS AND GREAT PROFESSOR! he has a great way of explaining the concepts for the quizzes and upcoming tests. you can use a 8x11 both sides paper as cheat sheets/"crib" sheets for both midterm and final. there is participation throughout the class with the use of Polls everywhere (but all you need to access it is through phone/app or laptop)! so i recommend you come to every lecture if not be awake for that time and do it in the comfort of your bed; they are just questions asked about what you go through the powerpoints. if you had experience prior to this class in stats it will be way easier than expected. if not, you should be fine! his office hours are super helpful. homework and assignments are super easy and you can do them over and over again as in you can turn in your answers until you get 100%. study groups would be a great way to keep up with your progress. no textbook needed.
Homework and quizzes: i got averages of 100% on each section.
midterm: got 93%
final: got 103% (there was extra credit towards the end)
I liked Enders up until the midterm. I got a low 80 on it, and he decided to hold a small in class "review" of the questions people missed the most. I felt like he should have done this BEFORE the midterm, because all of the questions I missed were on the same topic and were a topic he had quickly brushed over in class before the midterm. During week 7, Enders decided to log people out of polleverywhere who, according to him, "were not following the directions." Logging people out of polleverywhere made it impossible to get back in, meaning ALL previous points were lost. He claims that the syllabus said that you had to sign up with the same email on CCLE for poll everywhere, but it DOES NOT. Instead of taking responsibility for his mistake, he blamed it on the students. To make matters even worse, that lecture that he logged some students out of poll everywhere, had the highest amount of participation points out of all the other lectures ... so, because of Enders' mistake, I missed out on several participation points and I had to call poll everywhere and beg them to help me merge my past points to my new poll everywhere account so I did not lose all my points for the quarter! Do I need to continue or are you getting the picture? Oh wait, I forgot to mention the snarky attitude Enders' had when I emailed him about not giving me the right amount of points for my poll everywhere points on a different lecture. When he realized he had a made yet another mistake, no apology, no responsibility taken, no nothing. I am so happy to be done with this class. Although I felt like I could have gotten an A if I had studied a little more, my B is the result of Enders' inability to get it together. The only good thing Craig did was offer some extra credit points for the topics he was not able to go over due to the fire.
I lovvveeedd Professor Enders. This class has to be one of my favorites because I felt like I got something out of it that can be applied to something else. His grading rubric is heaven so it's not that hard to get an A as long as you put in the effort to understand the material. He gives you opportunities to make up an assignment or quiz you might have missed or didn't do too well on, but honestly its really hard to mess up on those if you take about 20-30 min out of your day to do them. That's how understandable his class is. Even if you may be slacking off mid-quarter, his slides are easy enough to understand so you can catch back up. Honestly, if you can take this class with anyone take it with Enders!
If you've ever taken a stats class before and sometimes show up to class, this will be a very easy A. Participation points are done on a website/app, not a clicker, so you don't even have to show up to actually get the points. Professor Enders is super nice and helpful and really only cares that you understand the concepts, so math really isn't even involved. Also, he doesn't give minuses for grades, so an A is 90-97%.
Professor Enders is amazing! His lectures were always informative and easy to understand, he really cares about ensuring you understand the material. I feel very confident about data analysis after taking his class. Workload is very manageable.
