I love, love, love Professor Clark. She is simply a beautiful lady inside and out. She is such a sweet, kind, nice professor. Once a bird came into the class and she was so cute about it like "Aw there's a birdie here to join us and bring us joy." I love her class! I thought it would be hard to like because the lecture is 2 hours long, but the fact that she gives like a few minutes break throughout makes it easy to take a quick little break and recollect energy to focus again. The content is so interesting and she is so knowledgeable, and she never gives "nonsense" answers-- if she doesn't know, she'll write the question down to research it later.
Quizzes are super easy and open-note. final and midterm too, and the labs (which are basically part of lecture) are pretty fun for the most part. The Article Analyses were kind of boring but they help you understand parts of a research paper.
I love her! She is perfect. You MUST take her if you have the chance.
I am selling all of my lecture notes for this class for $15! hmu on ********** if you are interested!
I really enjoyed this class and would take again especially with this Professor. The guidelines and expectations for the class were set up clearly and the Professor made useful PowerPoints to follow along with. Her tests were fairly easy as long as you put in the work and study. The workload each week was manageable as long as you stay on top of it.
For Psych 85 with Courtney:
-selling my study guide for 10$ (for both) the midterm and final for this class. Spent a lot of time answering these and putting them together which will definitly give you an A. :) Shoot me a text **********
This class was truly amazing, and I can't recommend Professor Clark enough. She was funny and engaging, and would often tie psychological studies to the teaching methods she used in class (taking study breaks, how to review, etc.). Not only did she make every unit interesting, but she also taught us how to study better and provided a lot of resources for exams and projects. This class does have a moderate amount of work, but most if it is fairly easy if you follow along in the lectures. I found this class very informative and would definitely take it again if I could. (She also puts up pictures of dogs on breaks!!) Overall, Professor Clark is amazing, and if you have the chance to take this class, please do it.
I really enjoyed this class! The only reason I did not end up with an A is my own fault. I was taking some other tough classes and this GE was not my focus. I got a 96% on the midterm and got a little cocky and didn't study for the final not realizing how much the 72% I received would drop my grade.....
The material they cover is very much like AP psych if anyone ever took that in high school.
Professor Clark is also extremely accommodating and genuinely cares about her students. This was winter quarter of 2022 which is when we went back online for two weeks after winter break and there was all this confusion with covid protocols. But despite all the confusion, she made sure the class was manageable and accommodating to us. On a more personal note during winter break my hometown experienced a fire that demolished our community so starting school was the least of my priorities. Professor Clark was, again, super accommodating and made sure to check in with me on how I was doing and to see if I needed any help with the class materials. Overall she is a great professor but an even better person.
Take this class! 10/10
This is an okay introductory course. I would say that it all depends on how interested you are in Psychology itself. There are slides for each lecture and all lectures are recorded. There were no discussions for the course. The workload is very manageable as long as you don't procrastinate. DO NOT BUY PEOPLE'S NOTES!!!! The professor is very good at explaining information and has office hours. On top of that, there are so many TAs, we had around 8-10, so there is no need to buy a single thing for this class. Stay focused during the lectures as the professor quizzes and does exams according to how they speak in examples and material. Overall it's a decent class I just wasn't interested in the topic anymore after the class. I will always advise you to take the class for yourself as sometimes things reviewed won't apply to you. Best of luck!
Professor Clark was a super sweet person! Her classes were sometimes a little slow, but given that it's an introductory course it makes sense. The class grade consisted of 4 quizzes, lab activities (about half of the labs were group projects, all during class), two written lab reports, one midterm, and one final. It was a very nice class, and the professor would send out emails notifying you of when assignments were due and other announcements. I would recommend taking it with Professor Clark.
Dr. Clark is an amazing professor and she is clearly passionate about what she teaches. The concepts themselves are not too difficult to understand, but she makes sure to explain them very clearly and progresses through the material at a great pace. Your grade is composed of 8 weekly assignments, a final paper, and a midterm and final exam. The weekly assignments were pretty chill and weren't graded harshly. For the final paper, we had to design our own experiment but it wasn't bad since the instructions were very clear and the paper had to be less than 1250 words in length. The exams were also straightforward and all I did to study was review Dr. Clark's practice questions that she provides. Discussions were optional and lectures were bruincasted!
Dr. Clark is a nice person, but her lectures were often disengaging. A lot of the material she talked about was often interesting, but her lecture style often bored a lot of students. Also, her exams were often very tough, she would often put things on her exams that were not covered on lecture slides. In addition, she becomes hella pissed if you even start whispering in class. Often she would go on her tippy toes, then shush the class by putting two fingers on her lips in the middle of her lecture just because someone in the back just whispered something. Obviously, the rest of the class would start laughing afterward but I dunno what she was doing.
Furthermore, some of her vernacular when she talks about people of color, underserved, inner-city populations, etc. were a little bit offensive. Her terminology especially when describing colored people and stereotyping was a bit offensive, though I am sure she was not trying to negatively describe colored people in the first place.
I would take Danan rather than her for Psych 10. Most people would agree.
