I had her for both Span 100A and Span 100B. Span 100A was super easy because as a syntactician, Spanish phonology is not her specialty so she seemed more lenient in grading the final project and exams. Her homeworks are straight-up, and basically all you need to do for the midterm/final is study your homeworks - they literally have almost the exact same structure. I took Span 100B after Span 100A and realized she was much more strict in Span 100B. Since she specializes in Spanish syntax, she grades way harder/more in depth. The class itself is not that hard you just have to pay attention and turn your assignments on time. The only other comment I have to make about her is that she is not punctual (she shows up 10-15 minutes late to class all the time and for the100B final she was like 30 minutes late...) and she's not too clear with her instructions for the final project. So you have to be very thorough and ask a million questions, make sure you clarify with her what you need to turn in for your assignment she will literally dock a bunch of points if you don't do as exactly as she wishes. But what I did appreciate about her was how understanding she was. If you have a dilemma/issue with the class or assignments, you can talk to her and she will try to help you.
She's a super nice and cute professor, but I studied super hard for her test, took extensive notes, asked her for assistance, etc, only got an A- . Her midterms and finals are hard to get an A like 95%. Every little mistake that you do on the tree is 1 point off and it is very easy to make a little mistake. Especially when you dont have a background in linguistics and have no interest in it. she's nice and approachable. what I hated about this class is that there were grad students who knew everything and got 100% , while others pretty much just suffered. there were like 3 other undergrad that got 100% but they were actually interested in this thing. I got an A- even though I studied super hard. linguistics is actually very mathematical. didn't enjoy this class, but kind of iteresting I guess
Professor Parodi is an excellent lecturer! You can feel free to ask anything -anytime and she will right on anwer your question, so there's no fear that you'll sound stupid if you don't understand a thing of what she's saying. She is extremely nice, very fun and ALWAYS accessible to sutdents!
