The teacher is great. She really explains well and is to the point. What the hell is up with the TA's?! They think they are so superior it's so stupid. Beware of Samir--he grades VERY harshly. You think he is helping you out, and you try your best....to end up with a terrible and unexpected grade. McEachern is really cool and I did learn from the class; however, b/c of my TA I despised the class. Don't take Samir if you can avoid him!

Spring 2024 - Nice professor, very knowledgable and made learning about Shakespeare fun. I really appreciated her many options for paper topic prompts and thoughtful comments on essays. Grading seemed appropriate, if you put in the required amount of effort and pay attention to what the prompt is asking for she will definitely acknowledge that. The midterm was pretty difficult in that you had to respond to 5 short answer essay questions (responses were supposed to be a page each) in under two hours. I think three questions would have been a more appropriate ask with the amount of time that we were given. She prefers students to write notes by hand but talks pretty fast so I recommend typing your notes if you want to stay on top of everything. Overall a great class, if you're looking to fulfill your historical requirements I recommend taking Professor McEachern!

Fall 2017 - Nice enough but a harsh grader. Her office hours are super early (8am) so be prepared if you have questions. She Lectures but they’re really disorganized so be prepared to just scramble when taking notes. She is anti laptops so you’ll have to do pen and paper. Her reading quizzes are SO HARD! She expected close reading which basically meant remembering every random symbol, scene or action. The tests (midterm and final) are better but I wouldn’t take this class unless you’re really into shakespeare and have the time to dedicate to it
