Overall, a great professor and makes the class very doable and accommodating, HOWEVER, if you are a major procrastinator and don't tend to stay on track, this is not the class for you.

Amazing professor with a fantastic syllabus will lots of chances to mess up any mistakes throughout the quarter.

I might not be able to compare Professor Hazel to a professor or class in the Math Department at UCLA, but I can firmly say she's one of the best teachers I've had at UCLA. The course may be confusing at first, but it seems to all fall into place as you realize the meaning of the concepts she's teaching. She's very often available to answer your questions, whether it be during office hours or class time. She repeated questions when we might not be able to hear them and made sure we genuinely understood the material. She does a wonderful job clarifying any questions you have as long as you're willing to ask. In terms of workload, it was definitely on the lighter side (just a few assignments each week) and the only exam we had was the final, as a majority of your grade is based on short quizzes. These were a bit controversial as they definitely gave you more leeway to practice and get 100%, but at the same time, you only get two chances for each quiz, which some viewed as a bad metric for grading. But as long as you put in the work, it's an easy A. Overall, would love to take this class again, and saw it as a quarter well spent.

Math 33a is a cake walk compared with prior behemoth 32B, and the past bosses 31B and 32A. Maybe cake walk is exaggerating, as it does come with difficult concepts that are difficult to wrap your head around, but Hazel's lenient grading scheme and way of introducing topics to us with repetition made it a much easier class. We had 22 quizzes throughout the quarter amounting to 63%, no midterms, and a final worth 17%, with the rest comprised of homework. Her lectures were good, but since it was a 9am in bunche hall I decided to forgo walking and watch recordings. Overall I loved her approach to the class, and the addition of pre class assignments and extra videos to help out my understanding were great.

Professor Hazel is very generous, and if you put in an ounce of effort then this class is an easy A. There are no midterms, only quizzes, and there's one final (where a cheat sheet was allowed). The quizzes are all-or-nothing and you have two tries to pass. The homework isn't too bad, there are some trick questions but for the most part it's things we've practiced in class. Lectures are recorded and uploaded pretty fast. Discussions were easy and you just did one worksheet in class, as long as you showed up you'd get the point for the worksheet. Overall I think Dr. Hazel made things pretty clear and was more than willing to go over the same topic multiple times.

Professor Hazel was amazing. I can’t recommend taking her class enough. She has a really bright personality and made it easier to come to class at 9am. Her lectures were very organized, with fill-in notes that you can download and follow the lecture with. I really recommend that you do this, because otherwise you won’t have enough time to write down all of the notes and follow along with the example problems. This class is made for you to succeed-1as long as you make sure to complete all of the assignments well, you’ll most likely end with a good grade! However, I struggled with the homework a lot, which was the biggest con of the class for me. It often went beyond the material of the lectures and sometimes I got stuck for hours, not understanding how to approach the problem. I recommend using Quizlet solutions to get an idea of how to solve the tricky ones. Another part of the class was the pre-class assignments that we had to do before every class and the learning outcome quizzes that we had to do (about two per week if you did them according to the recommended deadlines). These weren’t hard to complete, but I personally found it a bit draining to continuously have to check in on what was due for this class, Sometimes I’d spend a whole afternoon on the homework and then check Canvas and find out that I also had to do two quizzes and a pre-class assignment, and it just felt like a lot to deal with even though each assignment on its own wasn’t too tough or time consuming. Even though the final was the first real test that we took, it was easy as long as you looked over the slides and the learning outcomes, and you have more than enough time to complete it. Overall, you’ll be just fine if you put in the work and you’ll have a great time in Professor Hazel’s class!

Professor Hazel is great! She explains each topic very well and focuses on understanding the material. She is very receptive to answering any questions that students asked and is really organized. The quizzes can be scary; there are 22 quizzes worth 63% of your grade. While there is no partial credit on these quizzes, you get 2 attempts and can make up 1 of them at the end of the quarter. There are no midterms. Some questions are really difficult, but I learned a lot and the final is quite easy. I failed more than half of the quizzes on the first attempt but was able to get most of the quizzes on the second try. I'd take her again.

TAKE 33A WITH HAZEL!!!! She is so clear and her notes are extremely organized and simple which makes the course so much easier. We had a couple online mini quizzes every week instead of any midterms, and the final was only a small portion of the grade. The quizzes were very fair and probably easier than homework problems, so it was much less stressful than having your whole grade rely on a couple big exams. We only had five required homework problems per week (and a bunch optional) so the workload was very light. This was my favorite class this quarter and much easier than I expected, definitely recommend Hazel
