great class, very organized and easy to understand. Some of the readings were a bit long, but you can get by just fine by skimming those. Interesting concepts that tie in to everyday life.
Professor Tausanovitch is decent. His lectures aren't incredibly engaging, but he does present most of the relevant information for the class in his slides (something that most professors I've encountered unfortunately do not do). His voice is easy to understand and he explains things in great detail, occasionally going on too long about fairly simple concepts. I would be all right with taking another class with him.
The textbook is useless. I opened it twice during the quarter, but both times it was simply to define terms; I could have used another resource. Still got an A. The content is fairly easy, especially if you've taken AP Gov in high school, and the tests were not very hard (though the preparation for them was fairly strenuous).
Never went to class, still got an A-. He posts his lectures online and if you took AP gov in high school, this will be an easy class for you. Highly recommend as an easy GE.
Tausanovitch is a great professor! Super engaging lecturer, great slides, ties current events into class... Class itself is pretty easy. If you took AP Gov in high school it should be a breeze.
Easy class. Essentially the same as AP Gov. Chris is funny and genuinely cares about the subject matter, which translates really well in his teaching.
He was the first poli sci professor I had as a freshman. The tests are usually ID Questions, and about two short essays, which he gives a study guide for. Fairly easy class. The only annoying thing was the weekly reading quizzes in discussion section. They weren’t extremely hard, but it required you to have actually done the reading.
This class is a repeat of AP GOV if not easier. Professor T made the class as engaging and interesting as possible. Super awesome to have taken it during the election... What you put into the class you will get out of it. recommend as the easiest political science GE
Being an international student, I took this class without prior knowledge of American history and politics. Most people in the class had learnt the material, but I found it relatively harder just because I was not familiar. However, I did regular readings and the material was easy to digest. I came across some difficulties with the paper and some of the terms, but the TAs were extremely helpful and graded the papers leniently. I went to office hours of another TA and he was friendly enough to answer a lot of my questions!
There is one midterm, one paper, and one final, and there is quite a bit of memorization to do if you have never done a class about American government, but it should be a breeze to understand and score well if you have! And if you haven't, the class is interesting and a little bit of effort will guarantee you an A :)
Professor T is very smart but really boring. You'll learn a lot because his class is comprehensive but you'll probably hear some people snoring. I'm not exaggerating, the person next to me fell asleep. He is a fair grader.
Boring and disorganized lectures. Technical difficulties in about 1/2 of the classes. Overall a waste of time. I fell dumber after taking the class!
