He was unnecessarily hard. There was a point when he caught someone clicking their friends in for attendance. He made the BIGGEST deal possible. He was so butthurt. He made this class impossible. His slides are basically word for word what he says. The font is like .5 because he literally types what he's gonna say. So it's hard to take notes. Attendance is mandatory and he made TA's walk up and down to check everyone was clicking appropriately. Also, he's take attendance like the first minute of class, so even if you went and got there late, you missed it. Then he'd take attendance in the end. He was so focused on attendance, he forgot to teach.
For everything that is holy, you do NOT want to forget to bring your Iclicker 2 to this class. Professor Ayala will drop the lowest score for the Iclicker, including the first day of class if you forget it, but the days are not worth the same so if you end up like me, you'll miss out on 64 clicker points in one day :/ The midterm and final exam are multiple choice and they weren't too difficult as long as you review the slides he posts and attend discussion/skim the weekly readings. My biggest issue with this class was that participation was weighed so heavily when the professor and TA's read directly from the slides/readings without adding much else, which made it difficult to actually be interested/focused.
Just... dont take this professor. I am 100% sure that there are better people. He's not a bad person. Just unnecessarily tough. His slides are unclear, they're so wordy, it's boring, he doesn't engage. He takes attendance and has so many clicker questions. He told on some students who were clicking for their friends. Readings are long af.... just no. Harder than it needed to be
