Prof. Grijalva is such a good person. His lectures were sometimes a little boring because of his soothing voice, but overall he's a very effective teacher. His 3 tests are very manageable if you go to class and if you read or at least skim most of the material. He even gave extra credit questions on the last test for those that needed it!
I got an A in the class and learned a lot.
While his lectures tend to get a bit boring as he basically repeats word-for-word everything off of his lecture slides, he is a kind and funny professor. His soothing voice definitely knocked out a few students during every lecture. It may be tempting to skip lecture because his lectures are on bruincast, however going to class paid off. The tests are straight-forward and if you keep up with the reading and the slides you will ace them for sure. He doesn't have a midterm and final, and just has 3 exams throughout the quarter each weighted equally. Our last exam of the quarter had 10 extra credit questions which helped the class a lot. I'm a freshman and I ended up with a solid A in the class. Go to lecture and make sure you understand the concepts and you will at least get a B!
What a genuine, caring guy!
I loved him and his class was very interesting.
It was super-easy and you just need to pay attention to lecture, not on the reading.
Go to class and review the slides before tests and you're golden.
very easy class. Prof Grijalva is such a nice man, you can tell that he's a genuinely good person and really loves his subject. when I took the class his lectures were recorded and posted on bruin cast, so i didn't have to wake up for an 8am class. he also posts the lecture slides online. there were 2 midterms and a final and none of them were cumulative! can you say easy A?
The subject matter is really interesting, but the lectures can get boring at times. I often found myself falling asleep during the 2 hrs lectures, which happened to be at 8 am. Grijalva is a really nice person and is always available to help. Ask him about anything and he'll help you out. Very knowledgeable. Overall, theres were 3 multiple choice exams and thats it. If you do the reading and study everything you are told to at the review sessions you;re almost guaranteed an A. The extra credit on the exams makes it pretty hard not to get an A in the class. I highly recommend this professor and class.
Really good class, even at 8 am. The midterm was not too hard-our median grade was an 85. I'm only half way through the quarter, but I'd still recommend it. He's a really nice and intelligent professor. It's not a GE class, but it is a GPA booster.
Prof. Grihalva is an exceptional person and teacher. Great guy, easy class (comparatively to the other psych 10 teacher), and although the lectures are long, he tends to throw in some videos and such to make it interesting. if i ever needed help i would go to his office hours in a second just because hes so easy to talk to (and brilliant too!)
here's the deal on this class:
if you go to lecture, study the slides, and keep up with the reading, there really is no reason why you shouldn't get an A or even A+ in his class. The reading is not very difficult, easy to comprehend, and for this class, you don't need to memorize every minute detail. Just read and get the general gist of the chapters. As for lectures/notes, the notes are very simple to study because if you've been going to lecture and have been reading, most of the information you already know. All three tests were noncumulative and there were 10 points of EC on each test meaning there was a huge possibility that EC could boost up your grade by 1/6. The tests were easy enough that if you just studied the slides and read, there was no pressure. Take this class if you need an easy/no-stress one.
Professor Grijalva is a great Introductory Psych professor! Being a psych major I was really nervous about whether or not I would enjoy this class (since I had to wait an extra quarter to get in), but I loved it. He is such a nice guy and that makes you already want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he doesn't even need it. His lectures are very thorough, kind of boring at times, and he does have a really soothing voice so sometimes you might find yourself drifting off. But really, he shows great concern for his students. Plus his three exams are not cumulative and the final is the same as the first two. He also gave out 10 points extra credit on all three exams ... the exams themselves were only 60 points! You really don't need to read the book, just hope you have a good TA who gives you study guides go to lecture and review the study guides and lecture slides and you should be fine. I got an A+!
