This man does not know how to teach. You end up teaching yourself the material...tests were extremely unfair...he puts stuff on it that he doesn't even mention in class!!! I don't recommend him! You'll end up with a huge headache!!!!!!!
HOW DID ANYONE LET THIS MAN BECOME A PROFESSOR? He is an INSULT to our university. I have never disliked a teacher so much in my life. His teaching style is ineffective and he is on a MAJOR power trip! Statistics is easy but Sneed makes it hard and puts you to sleep at the same time. My stats class in high school was far more interesting and more effective. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Sneed is not THAT bad (I've had worse). Yet,he is kinda hard to follow...especially his notes. However, I did find the book that he chose for the class to be extremely helpful. It taught me everything I needed to know. The trick with Sneed is that he will teach you how to do a problem in a certain way...(i.e. an independent t-test or an ANOVA) but, come test time he will present the problem in a completely different manner. That's his trick...and if you can get those problems as well as the concepts, it'll be an easy ride. It's simply about mastering his tricks. Overall as a whole, Statistics is not a very hard class (not much math at all) and a pretty easy A.
I definitely do NOT recommend this Professor. He's a nice guy, but he doesn't know how to teach. He has this ability to make easy concepts into complex one. He can take a concept like what a 'mean' is and make you feel like you've never seen or learned how to calculate a mean before. Sounds harsh, but sit in one of his lectures and you'll know what i'm talking about. He knows his stuff, but he's not very good at teaching it. If it wasn't for the TA I probably would have failed this class. The book he uses is terrible too, especially when he DOESN'T follow the book. It gets very confusing when the book uses one notation and Sneed uses another notation to represent the same thing. Don't take this professor unless you dont mind hating Statistics and messing up your GPA.
i agree with the rest of the students..his teaching methods are horrible but it also seems that they are getting a little better (either that or i am getting used to him). I love statistics but he is not the best professor. The TA did an awesome job of explainig stuff in his sections and outside of class.
Sneed is a really nice guy, but a horrible teacher. This is a really easy class, and the lectures do not help at all. If you read the book you should be able to do good on the fairly easy midterms and final. You won't learn anything in lecture as Sneed does not know what he is talking about.
I didn't like Professor Sneed. His lectures are basically straight from the book, but ten times more confusing. He just copies the examples from the book and makes an unsuccessful attempt at explaining it. At least the book was pretty good about explaining things. He forces you to go to class by randomly collecting homework and having pop quizzes, but once I was there I didn't pay any attention to him. He confuses people more than he helps them. Avoid taking him, but if you have to, depend on the book and disregard his lectures.
