Professor Campbell's lecturing style at times can put some straight to sleep.Her tries to make the material of interest to students. He lectures from from slides. He provides more in depth information than the slide alone would convey, so attend lecture and take note. If you can I'd suggest printing the slides before class in hand-out form and take notes directly on them, or just use your laptop and open up the slide and take note in the note section of the pp. document and save it. The assignments he gave weren't that bad, they were easy to follow with steps written out for you so if you got lost you could ask for help at that point, and he's very willing to help you understand what you're doing, but he'll ask you first if you know what you're doing to see if you've been coming to class, but he helps you. Nice guy to talk to if you're having trouble in the class. He takes attendance about 15 times out of the whole quarter, and he put the information into the computer himself. There was no required section, but the TA was available for office hours if you needed her. In short just do the readings, attend lecture and ask questions when you're lost. The final paper is easy step by step, and there was an in class final which was multiple choice open book and open note.

Professor Campbell gives an assignment every week and if you are not up to reading long 20-50 page research articles that are boring than this class can be challenging. If you can skim articles with ease then you should have no problem with this class because he is more concerned with answering all the questions in the prompt than quality of writing. It's easy to get a B and a B+ in this class but difficult to get anything higher. However, I have to say this: Professor Campbell is one of the most considerate professors at UCLA. I was dealing with a crisis and he was extremely understanding. His consideration inspired me to write the only review I have ever written. If you are taking this class don't be afraid to visit him in office hours.
