Professor:
+ Trying to be funny, while not funny.
+ Slow pace through the lecture.
Project:
project is very boring. Check out UC Berkeley AI class, they do Pac Man Ai bot. Then they even compete in tournament. If you took CS 161 with this professor, you don't get to do this.
Midterm and Final:
The only thing I got to complain is that the space he left to answer each question is so SMALL. I don't recall, he allows to use additional paper to write down the answer.
Professor Rosen somehow finds a way to make a class you are really looking forward to before the quarter turn into a class you dread going to. The lectures are very boring and move extremely slow at times. He says he wants you to participate and that if you do he will "boost" your grade at the end of the quarter but its bullshit. Only three people ever even say a word in class and I was one of them and no boost at all.
But all bitterness aside, I would not recommend Professor Rosen for 161. The topic has the potential to be really interesting if you get a professor that is excited about it. Unfortunately, Rosen does not demonstrate much excitement towards the subject. This makes learning difficult. The projects are all in lisp, which is entirely different than the lectures. The exams test the theory discussed in lecture, so your project grade will not at all reflect your exam grade. The exams are difficult: he asks a vague question and is looking for a specific response so unless you can write exactly what he wants to hear, youre screwed.
This class was not very enjoyable, sadly, and I would not recommend Professor Rosen
