Professor Lazazzera is the worst lecturer I have had so far at UCLA. She gets really nervous and is always out of breath when she lectures. If you are not a an MIMG major than do not take this class because it will most likely hurt your GPA. If you are going to take this class make sure you NEVER forget to do the assessments before professor Lazazzera's lectures. Not doing these could really hurt your grade and make the difference between getting the next letter grade.

LAZAZZERA was an average science professor. Her lectures often seemed rushed and confusing at times. MIMG 101 is a tough class and her test questions could be difficult. Still, she seemed to care about her students and made herself available as often as she could.

I always like the way that most microbiology classes are more experiment based rather than fact-based. I like Lazazzera's lecture style, because she focus on the experimental processes that scientist drawn conclusions from (She'll write out a lot of experiments in class). In fact, compare to Schroeder, another instructor for the class, Lazazzera goes over a lot less concepts in class. Instead of having powerpoint slides packed with info, Lazazzera's lectures are whiteboard based and highlight key ideas.
A disadvantage about this lecturing style is that Lazazzera requires you to read the textbook (And may I say, there are too many confusing details in the book) and will test you on it. If you merely study the lectures, you won't do too well in the tests.
The grading for the tests were quite harsh at times. I took Micro 102 before 101 and 102 seems to have more "acceptable" answers for the questions, while 101's test focus on getting right on target. I am still somewhat bitter that in one of the calculation test questions, I messed up a + and - sign at the beginning but got all the formulas and variables right. I ended up getting 3 out of 12 points even after regrade.

The material is pretty difficult to understand but if you go to office hours, she's more than willing to repeat anything you need. She really cares about her students and if they're learning the material. As for her tests, they are straight-forward or experiment based so know the ins and outs of each experiment.
