The class was improved compared to that he taught last year. His final project was just a part of the project he had assigned last year, which didn't consume too much time. His homework is properly loaded, most solutions of which could be found. His lecture is given in the way of writing notes on the black board. Just copy the notes and review them, you will be fine. Nothing is particularly difficult. His exams are in big difference from the past exams. Don't expect to see similar questions in exams.

Mr. Babak was the best professor I had at UCLA. Being foreign from country of Iraq is very hard, but Babak was always there for me. Babak is from Iran, so he understands my heritage and my beliefs. Babak, I love you and thank you for a great course<3.

The class is organized in a way that I felt uncomfortable with. For the whole quarter, I tried so hard to catch up with it. I ended up A-, but it was so tiring and ruined my quarter. (I feel like the effort I paid in this one could earn me an A+ in some other EE upper divs.) Most of homework problems are from book which do not have much connection to the midterm and final. Personally I don't like his exams. His style is kind of varying. Both midterm and final are completely different with his past exams and his homework and practice problems from the textbook, so unless you really understand the material for every subtle points, it is hard to prepare for his exams. (Statistics: For midterm, I believe the average is 54/115, and the highest is 78/115)

Also, uh, everyone is complaining about the project. It could be interesting if we have more time to do it, but 3 weeks with 4 finals to be prepared...... Such a pain. And the TA really don't know what's going on. He is totally helpless and I don't think he ever prepared his discussion. This makes the situation even worse. You could take Prof. Daneshrad, but at least you should make sure the TA will help.

For 115C, I think this is a great and useful class. Taking it with a good professor will benefit you a lot. If you could avoid Prof. Daneshrad, I suggest you to do so. He is a good guy, just not that good at teaching this class.

The workload in this class is ridiculous. Final project was to layout a 16 bit ALU and then code it in Verilog. An insane amount of work for 2-3 students to do in 3 weeks while studying for the final. The professor also changed the project spec 3 times while we were meant to be working on it. Material is really difficult but he doesn't seem to understand that the workload is way too high.
